The latest 45 day EPS is showing no sustained cold around here well into January. Just one run but sure fits the pattern and other modeling I’ve seen.

Apparently, I am on the wrong side of St. Pete. According to the Davis on the roof in North St. Pete we only had .05" Barely got the street wet. We need some rain. Wish me luck, please. I'm getting a brand new right knee in the morning. To say I am nervous about it is an understatement. Prayers for a smooth surgery and a lasting strong recovery. It is amazing what the medical field can do these days. I will be looking at the same thing in the future. A surgery in Sept. 1984 removed the cartilage from my outer right knee and too much playing on the jet ski last summer made it sore. The x-ray showed bone on bone. I was/am fortunate I didn't have issues before this. Seems to be OK now and not nearly as sore as last year but it is in my future too.

Gotta love when you have a ridge forecasted to be 590+ DM @ 500MB in the middle of December in the center of the country. Nature's middle finger for Winter weather lovers, but a blessing for Summer lovers.

Good luck tomorrow, twocat! I’m sure that you’ll do great. Just follow the directions on limitations and follow up exercises. My 87 year old aunt was able to do it, and she ain’t no athlete, lol. It’s always nerve wracking, but once it’s done, you’re on the road to happy mobility.

Thinking we may break the record high next week as that mammoth ridge builds in...models continue to look pure blowtorch.

Some big lightning strikes down here with this line. You’d think it was spring time.

That was a heck of a little storm. Enough wind that I pulled up RadarScope to check velocities. Then wouldn’t ya know it a tornado warning went up for east Perry county. Geez, winter these days...

Models are looking alittle better for snow Tuesday afternoon and evening, but the dry air is going to be a beast to overcome. I think the best we can hope for is some mood flakes

HBD, 99! Also--got a 3:30am phone call from our youngest at Murray St. She's usually pretty good at reading velocities on Radarscope, but needed Dad's input on whether or not she should heed the tornado warning sirens. Windy and sideways rain is all they got. Looked pretty gusty, around 60-65mph. Biggest threat ended up south of Murray.
Edit: and apparently just east, according to the storm reports from yesterday. Big swath of wind there and across southern IL.

12z ukmet is insulting with a nice, closed 500mb vorticity, but an inability for the low to turn the corner in time.

If you squint and care to look that far out you can see an 18C 850mb contour for our area on D9 of the 12z GFS. Good times...

Impressive Fgen band along 70 tomorrow according to the 18z nam.
Somebody could grab a sneaky 1-2 inches tomorrow

Impressive Fgen band along 70 tomorrow according to the 18z nam. Somebody could grab a sneaky 1-2 inches tomorrow I still think there's potential for a narrow band of light accumulations tomorrow but outside of that band it'll be either nothing falling or just a few flurries. The dry low-level air is no joke.
