I question some of those reports as well. jmg378s is closer to the 11" Harvester report than I am and he reported 9.5". I reported 9.4". Two co-op stations nearby recorded 9.5" and 9.9". I'm not saying there is anything nefarious going on. Measuring snowfall is hard and inexact with high uncertainty. But I do question some of these reports. BTW... here is the snowfall report map if anyone is curious. Thanks for that. 9" and 7.5" in Shrewsbury..6" a few miles NNE by SLU. One of the Belleville IL reports was from today. Another was eye balled from a Facebook photo..

I'm calling 6" total between sleet and snow at my locale in Perryville. I'd say at work in northern STG county it is in the 10-12" range. Big time drifts at both locations. It was a lot of fun reeling that one in and having it actually work out. Having said that, it has been quite cold since early to mid Jan, and I got my first thought of spring fever this morning. I wouldn't hate another storm to watch, but I am feeling fulfilled and ready to turn the page if that doesn't happen. How many miles apart is that? That's almost a half a foot difference

Wave #2 dropped. 0.47" --- 4.9" at the airport
So 10-1 ratios.
Does anyone believe that??

Trying to figure out how to upload pictures but down here we have had slide offs and people stuck. My dad was lucky with his city plow truck but I have a picture of state truck on its side. So even the plowers are having trouble. Just shows you how slick this stuff is down here even the day after. He said he has seen four feet drifts on some county roads as they plow. He has put in some long days too.

Wave #2 dropped. 0.47" --- 4.9" at the airport So 10-1 ratios. Does anyone believe that?? I’d buy that. The Cobb data I was looking at before the storm had cumulative SLRs right around 10:1. I’d suspect a lack of consistent strong lift in the DGZ was why.

Seems like a lot of those maps are a bit high but I don’t know. Ended with a solid 7 inches of snow here in Fletcher

Models did an exceptionally good job with this storm overall. Sure, they wavered a bit with the transition zone and amounts with the first wave, and snowfall products were generally overblown which you'd expect with such obscene totals not factoring sleet into the equasion well. But when the usual "rules" were applied, it was a slam dunk forecast IMO. I was a bit bummed that I didn't exceed a foot IMBY, but factoring in the power outages and roadways being drifted shut, it was about as high impact as it gets. I can only think of 2 other storms that had similar impacts...1996 and 2014. We had a strong clipper in 2009 or 2010 that drifted snow badly, but amounts weren't on this scale nor the duration.

Can any of the history buffs like weatherJ remember a similar storm with a pronounced atmospheric river involved? Because I can't think of a single one. This storm was a rare bird, IMO. The long duration storm in 2019 was more of a cut off/blocking situation vs. an AR event. Truly remarkable setup with such a strong arctic ridge involved.

Precipitation of all types stretching from the southwest border to the northeast border at one time. I do remember seeing that at least one time in the past, but I can't say for sure when.

Is that just snow? what was your 'crust' value? Wait....how much ice and sleet under the snow? Ha ha About 1/2 - 3/4 of crust under the snow. I had about the same amount of crust. I only reported the snow layer to the NWS though. Figured it should be two separate reports. I didn't report the crust layer.

I had 6.5 storm total yesterday after lunch time and then shoveled again about 6pm and measured another inch and change. Had a new coating overnight added maybe 1/4 inch. I feel like 8 is a pretty close/good number for this area. This includes the sleet portion from wave 1.

I didn't report the crust layer. Ok, great and thanks. I figured the 1.5" that I was coming up with over the grass areas after pushing the yardstick through was a little elevated compared to what I shoveled (and what was still stuck to) the deck and railings yesterday. Also, right in line with stlweatherguy in Hillsboro. We have a family get together scheduled for the 19th, that should help line up the next storm.

Looks a bit warmer than it was forecast. If we had all this snow a couple weeks ago it would have been way way below 0

-1 and st.charles was 0 so I think it was bout what was forecasted in my opinion. I think it depends on cold air drainage locations.

Be'ins the Davis puked on me, I don't have an outside temp to report. The dog didn't want to do his normal morning exploring, so I'll take that as it's cold out.
p.s. RumChata snow ice cream (with eggs) was excellent, and the youngest (home from Murray St because they suggested everyone leave before the storm) decided to shovel the pad in front of the garage as her workout yesterday. Good day at the homestead! I'll reward her with some homemade chicken fettuccine tonight. I think she was shooting for a new car or getting PT school paid for, so fettuccine will have to be a close second place.

Bottomed out at 1* in Brighton. Light northerlies kept the bottom from dropping out...and this wasn't a severely cold airmass, either.
I had ice on the inside of the windows this AM from freezing consensation...it was still plenty cold, lol

Bottomed out at 2.4 degrees. Can anyone give me a thought on when the next measurable snow might fall? Just bought my sister a snow blower. I know.......I probably jinxed any possible accumulation for the rest of the winter.
