Today is the 11 year anniversary of my wife and I barging into a stranger's house on the way home because the other option was to drive into some serious rotation on radar. Ironically, it happened about the same place we hit the high winds going home last week--just south of Freeburg by the overpass.

Not sure why SPC went with a SLGT outlook further NE and not closer to the mid-level low...instability looks to be a bit higher east of the river but large-scale ascent/forcing is going to be necessary to offset weaker lapse rates and marginal instability IMO. I think the highest risk for tornadoes today is pretty well right along and just east of the river, extending westward along the MO river valley near the warm/occluded front and triple point. It's a pretty conditional setup, but definitely some potential for tornadoes today.

The sun has popped out a few times down this way and it gets hot and muggy really quick

The sun has popped out a few times down this way and it gets hot and muggy really quick I think it has popped out once here in Moberly today but it has looked like it could again pretty much at any time.

This setup seems more like a tropical setup in some ways to me.

Vis sat shows pockets of clearing moving north into the region ahead of the developing arc of storms...an hour or two of broken sunshine will boost instability quite a bit.

ahhh..an exclamation post with nothing to explain it. Guessing time. Is it aliens? Is it a tornado? Is it another school shooting? Is it snowing in May. We may never know

Tomorrow seems like a good setup for hailers underneath the mid-level cold core...with 700mb temps around 0* it won't take much of an updraft to get hail production. It's questionable that these would approach severe threshold...but worth watching.
