Should we be concerned about those storms up in northern MO? Looks like they "could" effect parts of the area. At least the northern viewing area if maintained.

If they can organize and get a good cool pool going then yes, they could get as far south as the metro, but more than likely they will diminish in a few hours before making it to the metro or even before as they run into more stable air from the departing MCV. Northern third of the area should get something out of it however even if not everyone.

They are holding together pretty well.

They are holding together pretty well. Some decent convergence along the boundary seems to be sustaining the line but they are starting to move away from the greater instability with diurnal swing not helping. They may hold together enough for some heavy downpours and gusty winds though...hopefully
The rest of the week looks like a good template for a new Tshirt design, lol...Splitsville, USA

Any just like that, they're going poof! Just a lone strong storm northwest of Columbia heading southeast and a weakening light rain band that should be gone well before it hits the Metro area.

Just saw where Ken Graham has been selected as the new NOAA NWS director. He sure seemed passionate about Hurricanes and was good to watch as NHC director.

Looking at tonight we may have some frisky storms in the metro in the wee hours of the morning.
Not saying severe but 40 to 60 mph winds and some marginal hail look possible to me looking at the hrr, and rap.
Im sure I am wrong but seems to be some threat

I got a downpour and a light rain most of day yesterday and my yard is still rock hard. Crazy how fast things dry out.

Putting shoes on to go out and run the 22in self-propelled mower it has a grass catcher to put the grass clippings in the garden. As I'm tying my shoes my wife asked me "was it supposed to rain?" I asked her why she used past tense🤔🤔🤔 pretty good shower moving through and rumbling of thunder. I certainly didn't see that one coming. Bright sunshine and very warm all of a sudden outside

Since we started putting grass clippings around the plants it has really made a huge difference. We have use shredded leaves before and they work also and break down into the soil. The dirt in the garden looks really good from the pure clay that we started with. Working on getting the grass clipping picker upper from a neighbor to go over either with it pull behind the tractor or the lawn mower not sure how they work yet.

I've used newspaper and straw in the past and that works well but it takes some work to get that set up. I've got plenty of grass clippings...might give that a go

I've got plenty of grass clippings...might give that a go Yes we lay newspaper underneath the shredded leaves when we use them and also underneath the grass clippings. It has been quite frustrating during some of these windy days... when the help shows up at the house you have to push through the roadblocks. It also helps to wet the newspaper if you have water handy and that gives you a little bit of time if it's not real windy.

Do you have any issues with seeds in the clipping sprouting in the garden? We also have very rocky clay soil and I use mulch but it’s getting expensive. I just don’t want to have to do more weeding with the clippings.

I grew up on a farm but we also had about a half of an acre of just vegetables. My brothers had a landscaping business that they started in the late 70s and we would cover that 1/2 acre in grass clippings each year. That was the best soil I have ever seen.

Looks like Accuwx Pro greatly expanded their model data selection to include the higher-res versions of quite a few different global models as well as sub-hourly short term models.

Last few runs of the HRRR have been trying to bring that MCS through the area late tonight. Looks like another sunrise deal that might turn over the atmo and put a damper on the afternoon severe threat along the incoming front/surface wave. Will depend on how quickly that departs and the amount of clearing behind it. Models hint at some mid-level dry slotting working in that may help to destabilize a bit. Hopefully it doesn't dive to the south and miss us up here...we really could use the rain.

I just don’t want to have to do more weeding with the clippings. We have quite a few weeds down our garden paths that have wood chips but they are decompisng nicely. Unfortunately the weeds are more along the 'raised' areas of dirt where the plants are. Since we started the grass process 2 weeks ago I have not noticed any weeds in the 'raised veggie area and only right along the edge where the grass drops down and meets the wood chips but those few weeds pull up very easy.

Much drier and Much hotter then normal for the next 2 weeks per the CPC. Center the strongest anomalies have been shifting towards St. Louis past couple days. Just a bring that thermal ridge a bit more west and we've got 100s for dayz...
Also might get to test that new Hazard type for Rapid Onset Drought. Time will tell...
18Z GFS back as ridge-y as ever, just not up to 600 DM, only 595-597 DM peak @ the 500 MB pressure level. Not 600, but close enough to be pretty intense of a heat dome overhead.

FV3 Hi Res (A convectve Meso Model) brings the storms though but splits them right as they move through the metro, northeast and southwest get hammered, but little for the Lou.
