Good morning everyone. If you saw my last post in the last thread I was talking about exciting/fun personal news. Many of you know we lost our beagle Daisy almost exactly two years ago. I've never been two years without a dog in my entire life...but I had resigned myself to the fact that we were probably done being dog parents. But then my wife heard about a huge beagle rescue in Virgina over the summer. She sent me a facebook post about 4000 beagles (adults and puppies) being rescued from a facility that was breading beagles for research... mostly on consumer products from what I can understand. Well, the government shut them down for numerous code violations as these dogs were living in horrible horrible conditions. A monumental nationwide rescue effort was launched and my quest to track down one of these beautiful, loving creatures began. Now, two months after the search began... we are happy to welcome Rosie... a two month old beagle into our home. We picked her up yesterday at the APA and she is the sweetest, most loving, cuddly thing you can imagine! She is already ringing the bell we have on the backdoor to go outside and do some of her business (not all...but the smelly parts ) So please welcome Rosie to the MTW family and the Higgins family! You will surely here more about her exploits in the days, months and years to come! As for the heat.... it's going to be hot... but the humidity looks to stay realatively under control. I agree that a backdoor cool front will get close enough to bring some showers or even thundershowers to the region late Sunday night or Monday morning...before it washes out and what could be more serious heat builds in. A lot may depend on the tropics and how/if Fiona may alter the pattern off the east coast in the coming days. There are still more hot days ahead... but the days of summer are numbered.

Congrats on your pup, Chris!
UKMET is bullish with that ridge running wave and associated thunderstorms Sun PM/Mon. Would be nice to get some rainfall and some temporary relief from the building heat...

I just saw the NWS has 97 degrees next tuesday in our St.peters forecast. This is insane for near the 1st day of fall.

May need to watch for severe wind potential just NNE of here overnight Sunday/ Monday morning - Yeah... the somewhat enhanced mid-level flow in the zone does offer some potential for wind concerns.

The tropical storm that models have developing off the SE coast could delay the front next week from the look of things...they have pushed it back until Thursday-ish now. Looks like the chances of that getting into the Gulf have lowered with a stronger weakness developing off the coast.

NBM is showing 97 for Tuesday and 95 Wednesday. The records to beat are 97 from 2017 on Tuesday and 97 from 1881 on Wednesday. I believe that Wednesday record is the 3rd oldest for St. Louis. The Euro shows 99 and 100 while GFS shows 100 and 102 for Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.

12z GFS is looking more impressive in the Sun/Mon timeframe with those ridge running waves...Coz may be onto something there. Debris cloud and precip/outflow could keep temps in check if that pans out.

While the tropical system will delay the front a bit, at least it looks like we only have to deal with this crap for a few days next week. GFS has a nice temp crash with the front Thurs. as well.

Just watched Ryan Hall (y'all) on YouTube. He spent a good deal of time talking about a semitropical system in the Bering Sea that is disrupting things all over this quarter of the globe in the next week or so.
The biggest thing I saw was it could several inches of rain into the west coast seriously disrupting wildfire season.
Anyone seeing such a major event in the models?

Yeah, that cut off energy that develops off the coast is going to throw a lot of moisture into the western states...as well as pumping up the ridge that brings the heat next week.

It is still looking like low 90's on Sunday/Monday and mid to upper 90's with near record high on Tuesday. Wednesday is a little bit of a wildcard. Right now GEFS is more aggressive while EPS is more conservative. It really depends on the timing of the frontal passage. I think it is prudent at this stage to stay conservative with Wednesday's high. Nevertheless NBM is still saying 93 on Wednesday so it is still looking to be another hot one even if the near record temperatures do not materialize.
