TOWER ROCK SAFETY: Due to a projected 3.5 feet at the Mississippi River Chester gauge, the vertical geological formation at Tower Rock Natural Area may be inaccessible by foot heading into this weekend.
During extremely low river stages (typically below 1.5 feet at the Mississippi River Chester gauge) this large limestone outcrop is accessible by foot.
Please be cautious if exploring the area. And remember to always be careful of waterbodies, even during low conditions.

Can anyone confirm but this last gully washer pushed me to 3.35 inches in the gauge in st.peters.
And still pouring reason I ask is because the winds are so strong my gauge may be skewed a bit

Between 1”-1.25”, depending on which Davis on the roof I check around Marissa. Nice soaker. Would have been a gorgeous winter storm, with the ULL passing through at a snail’s pace.

A widespread 2" across the area per radar estimate. Looks like a bullseye of 4" amounts along Hwy 67 in MO heading across the river into IL. As of 3pm this afternoon my pond only looks like it increased by the amount of rain. Did not appear to be much running off at that time. Also of note, this was first time in quite awhile that the sump pump kicked on. Much needed for the area.

Lake St. Louis East = 2.23 Lake St. Louis West = 1.99 Dardenne Prairie = 2.31 Dardenne Prairie 2 = 1.98 Cottleville = 2.2 Jungermann and Willott Road = 2.66 Penbroke Lane and Ehlmann Road = 2.31 St. Charles/Near Lindenwood = 3.15 Given those numbers, you seem high.

Thank you chris, not terribly far off I suppose in the old analog rain gauge as Lindenwood is only 3 miles east down 70. My gauge show 3.99 now but I do believe its skewed a bit as the tree may be dripping in it. I will just go with what you show the totals are.
My digital is not reading at all, I need to figure it out

Also does anyone know what the best digital rain gauge would be with out breaking the bank.
This regular gauge is a pain as I have hardly a spot in my yard to get a good reading with out mounting on the roof. Too many shrups, trees and obstacles

Also when I got home today the wind blew my trashcan lid open and filled it to the brim with the overflowing gutter. Remember to clean your gutters before winter, It had not rained like this in so long that it slipped my mind.

I have a basic acu rite station that does temp, Rh, rainfall, lightning detection and pressure. I bought the optional hive enclosure for the temp sensor. Helps with accuracy.
rain gauge placement is tricky to near impossible to get right on a residential lot with buildings and trees, just gotta get it as open as humanly possible for accuracy.
Oh, I almost forgot: clean your gutters

2.25" storm total in Brighton. Glad I remembered to clean out the gutters Monday! They were full of dry junk that a blower made quick work of.

The gutter abv my walkout is 3 stories high and its a big deal gwtting my ladder out, and set up. I really would like a drone for christmas to check that gutter. But yesterday was wind and rain. Gutters are full of leaves for sure now.

Gutters are full of leaves for sure now. Sears used to sell attachments for leaf blowers. They were pieces of tubing and a U-shaped crook for an end piece. Using it I could stand on the ground and clean out second story gutters. No reason you couldn't buy another kit and reach gutters three stories up. Just be sure to wear eye protection.

the first 10 days of November look pretty warm. Yep, but fortunately there are signs of a stretched PV for mid November that would hopefully translate to our first taste of winter. Dr. Cohen is pointing to relatively slow October Siberian Snow Extent and anomalously low sea ice extent in the Urals as conflicting indicators for if we will see a weak or strong PV this winter. We shall see

Huge differences by D10 between the gfs and euro/gem.
Models struggling with the potential stretched PV.
Euro/gem would be more fun.

Euro was much different last night. There will probably be a pattern change mid-monthish, models always try to rush it. Instead of in 10 days, I would say more like 12-15 or so. Last half of November could be kinda interesting.
