Wind gust are 40-50 mph across the area

The temp profile during the height is razor thin IMO. This one literally could go one way or the other in my opinion.

NAM looks to have shifted a bit SE with the 18z...SLP tracks from FAM to IND on that run and crashes the 130dm line across the Metro with precip still falling within the TROWAL/deformation.
We're still in the game, but need a hail mary.

I hope it switches over and hammers down like the RAP is showing, drops a quick 3-6” is that too much to ask for! Definitely probably not going to happen, but for once could we get a model bust that gives and doesn’t take away snow. Such a waste of a big storm , could be an absolute beast if we were 10 -15 degrees colder. I can’t even count how many great southern low nearly perfect track storms we’ve had this year that we’re rain due to lack of cold air

Last storm like this we had 4-8" forecast with WSWs in place and got barely over an inch IMBY.
Expect the unexpected.

BRTN, if we get 3-6” I’m going to drive up to Brighton and buy you a steak dinner I'll hold you to it, and I know just the place! Are we using KSTL or KBRT as the official measurement? I like my chances of at least a ground coating up here. St. Louis, maybe not so much.

Radar coming alive to the SW but fighting some dry air on the leading edge with the NE wind...not a bad thing. The last storm didn't have much if any dry advection.

RAP on the bombogenesis train with 1mb/hr deepening as the low crosses SE MO and hits sub-980mb in S IL.
This is the strongest cyclone I can remember hitting the region. Very noteworthy regardless of snow prospects.

There is some serious cold on all the models next week.
That is coming. No worries there.

When you measure your snow, go do it in the switchgrass, guaranteed to get the numbers...and a steak dinner...lol BRTN, if we get 3-6” I’m going to drive up to Brighton and buy you a steak dinner I'll hold you to it, and I know just the place! There is some serious cold on all the models next week. That is coming. No worries there. Far as I can tell, the vortex looks to take up residence across New England next week. We may catch a clipper or some kind of funky overrunning deal. But at face value, cold and dry looks to be the rule.

Nothing like wasted cold to start and end the season.
I’m almost to the point where I don’t want anymore snow. I don’t want the official records to get skewed. I want this season to stick out like a benchmark of BS

I think we go 972mb and shatter the record.

That stupid warm front nosing into SD from Alberta is what just might finish this storm off. It’s killing any true cold air connection

18z euro and 21z sref have a 975mb low. I think we go 972mb and shatter the record. Over S IL though...pressures don't drop below 980mb at KSTL on those runs so we can't even break a silly pressure record, lol
