.50 here. Not as much as I was hoping for. Just got home from Tablerock for the past week. Got marble sized hail last Sunday, and pea sized hail yesterday morning while we were there.

Treat your yard with milky spore...that will kill the grubs and larvae that the moles feed on...and it lasts for years. 1.25" storm total in Brighton. The rain barrel is full and the plants and critters are happy! What is milky spore? Never heard of it.

There aren't any hotel rooms left in Cape Girardeau for April 7th that I could find. According to hotels.com the Super 8 in Sikeston is only $75 as compared to the Super 8 in Farmington which is $300. You get 3.5 minutes of totality in Sikeston vs 2.5 minutes in Farmington. I'm not sure why there is such a difference in price.
Start thinking about your game plan for eclipse glasses now. There was a shortage starting about 1 month out for the eclipse in 2017.
Also, considering that the path of totality is further south requiring more travel from St. Louis residents with perhaps more interest this time I think the traffic is going to be worse this go around. In 2017 I-55 was bump-to-bumper from at least Perryville to Arnold.

Only 0.30" total in High Ridge. There was a lot of heavy mist, which the piezo meter device probably doesn't measure real well. But probably not over 0.40". However, I did get a quarter of an inch on Wednesday or Thursday. My lawn is always a struggle but I worry about the farmers.

I was about to post to Brtn saying we had used some around the house back in Feb. and I haven't noticed any mole runs where we treated but it says it usually takes some time. Here is a copy/paste from where I just bought from. My field is roughly 7 acres and it is loaded with moles so the grubs are there too. We find them all the time digging weeds in the garden area. They make GREAT bait. A long-lasting, grub control spreader that will solve all of your problems. 20 lb. Milky Spore, Grub Control Spreader Mix. This is a organic compound that attacks larvae of Japanese beetles. Apply with spreader anytime from spring through fall. Kills grubs for 15 to 20 years, providing you with the ultimate coverage. Harmless to all other living things and will not effect birds, bees, beneficial insects, fish, animals, plants, or humans. Provides up to 7,000 square feet of coverage.

After my mole fest the past couple of years...all I can ask is where can I find it? Not sure if it is coincidence, but mole activity picked up after we tried to grow Zucchini. The Zucchini didn't do well either and seemed to be done in by grubs. EDIT...I wasn't able to see your copy/paste on Tapatalk

A trip from Farmington that we can make in 5 1/2 hours took us just over 10. Will be staying an extra night next time!

In 2017 I-55 was bump-to-bumper from at least Perryville to Arnold. I did search through booking, and saw hotel availability in cape for april 8 (you know, after drinking and partying during the event). The cheapest i saw was 395. I wld probably stay at marriott in downtown for 399. There are hotels on booking going for as much as 475. The trouble with cape, is that it has very few hotel rooms to begin with. I do believe there is a new hotel by the casino now that you might be able to book for then. Im not sure what the hotel is. There was wink wink agreement to limit hotel availability, but now that the casino is finally getting a hotel signifies to me that prior agreement has loosened up a bit. But i think it is going to be a very small hotel with not very many rooms. In the past, downtown cape was shut down on sundays and mondays. I do not know if that will be the case for the eclipse. I would think that businesses would want to be open if most of the hotel rooms in town are reserved, and for all the ppl making day trips to the area. Traffic could be an issue as ppl from st louis head to the country. I55 is a 4 lane divided highway, and is basically the only way in and out of town. There is a state park that typically doesnt get used much, but totality goes through that park, so could be busy.

Farmington is part of a combined statistical area of a major metropolitan area. That could be why the rates are much high in farmington.

Once again models are trending stronger with the troffing across the E US in the medium range...the rex block that models develop next week would keep the heat at bay and bring in the backdoor flow again. It would be great if we can hold onto that pattern through the summer...although it does favor dryness overall.

It's been too cold for most adults so far this season. Last year we were in pretty quick.

That's a new description. But I sure hope it didn't materialize.
Last evening Meteorologist Mike Collier of KJRH in Oklahoma City reported that DVD sized hail possible.

Monster Heatwave showing up around Independence Day. 600DM ridge floating around with impressive 850MB temps. Looks like our first prolonged stretch of 100 degree weather. Sadly other than Sunday there's no rain in sight at least on the GFS.

Big mcs breaking the panhandle of Florida at the moment. More reminiscent of central Illinois this time of year then Northern Florida
