I have been waiting for the rain, from the wall of it to the west of me, to start up anytime. I get on NWS site to see a FFW for STL into NE JeffCo and my wall of rain has disappeared. WTH

Over an inch total in Brighton. Nice slow soaker the past couple hours. Hopefully this gives the garden a boost. The tomatoes look awful with leaf curl due to how dry it's been. And the cool nights haven't helped them...nor the peppers

I have not had any rain since my original .375". I am grateful for what was received but I must have missed some messaging from somewhere. I thought I was in a great position for some soaking rains. As Snowman would say....."meh"

.25” of rain in the gauge this AM. As they say, barely enough to settle the dust. Woof

It is about 8+ feet above the roofline it sits on. It is mounted to a roof-mount antennae tripod that has a telescopic antennae mast that gives it the height. I can take a pic if you'd like. Hubs put it up there, not me!

Hubs put it up there, not me! I am putting mine up tomorrow. It goes on the table and should be about 6 feet above the ridge. I'm using a mount and extension from ambient weather.

Looks like most of the rain will be south of I-70, and mainly 44/64 and south. The metro on north might not see much. Figures. The mid-level low tracks right across or just S of the Metro...the GFS is a far S outlier. Hard to imagine the Metro and northern suburbs not getting rain and storms. Short-range models do look a bit stingy but I don't think that'll be the case. 0.2 total for last weekend at my ranchero in Cedar Hill. Had to turn the sprinkler on the garden today. If I posted a pic of my yard, and asked people to guess the month based on the pic, the majority would say mid to late August!

I’m betting we see a MCS or two before the fourth as the heat tries to build

The sky was actually blue today. The new fangled GEFS smoke product on Accu showed quite a bit of smoke again today.

I’m betting we see a MCS or two before the fourth as the heat tries to build Looked like a pretty good chance for that next week as the ridge noses in and then gets knocked down by ridge running shortwaves/MCVs Sunday bears watching for that as well.

Coolest June in the US since 2009. I’ll take it. I remember 2009-10 being a decent winter across the area. I was out in it working a long term job at the Buzzi Cement Plant upgrade, 16 miles from the house. I was funneled(against my wishes) up 'north' to Portage de Sioux, 76 miles from the house and couldn't wait for a layoff on 12/22/09 for a Christmas/New Year's Cruise along Mexico's western coast. That year (2009) a La Nina was fading ( -0.6) Feb,Mar,Apr to a developing El Nino ( +0.5) June,July,Aug. Hmmmm, possibly an analog year?

Very interesting to note after some further searching that even though this year's El Nino is off to a slightly quicker start than the 2009 El Nino the point in times of equal ocean temps to rainfall correlate pretty close. July to Aug 2009 rainfall is pretty meager like our rainfall is now. Although that is comparing June rainfall 2023 to August rainfall 2009, a correlation none the less.

After some more searching, snowfall for 2009-2010 winter ended up a little below normal at 14.5".
