I must say I am Way Beyond disbelief 7 miles west of DeSoto just can't believe it absolutely can't believe it. How can the National Weather Service radar use that platform they are using to show Rain and I'm sitting down here with nothing how is that possible. I have a pretty good light show Within 1 to 2 miles of me lots of Thunder lots of lightning haven't had a drop of rain yet and judging my radar I think it's past me. Just front going through right now.

Since this one was basically tracking due south out of the North any theories on maybe the plume from Labadie power plant having any effect on us south of there??

Thankfully the cluster that was west of me started growing to the east before it got anymore South it's moderate rain right now cooled off very nicely about 76-77° and I'll say moderate rain. Hell of a light show though

Had enough to wet the deck stairs, concrete is already dry. Went out and watered my plants since I was hoping for more. So if it does rain more around here, you can thank me. Looked so much more promising. Had a lightning strike within 1 mile according to my detector and only 0.05 inches of rain. That's almost unbelievable

I fweel like I got jackpotted with this cell. Reformed/developed right overhead and put down .310" of rain. I will take it. Let it soak in and wait for the next one. Hell of a light show. We had a very close strike, 1/8 mile or less, then the power went out 2 minutes later but for only a few minutes, thankfully. Great "spider web' streaks out of the south from the parent cell heading north. Edit:Hehehehehehe, it's wabbit seaon.

Sounds like a good bit of damage in St. Francois County. Numerous tree and powerline down calls.

Sounds like a good bit of damage in Soco area. 55 and Reavis? Numerous tree and power lines down. Trampoline went over fence and is busted. Moved our whole gazebo across the deck and almost over

So what's going on in East Central KS
The radar.. Two different radars show a towering plume of big Testosterone running on a stationary line.
Radar estimates show upwards of 7" of rain in 2 hours.
Echo tops are pushing 60,000 feet.

Apparently there is a lot of storm damage from last night in the Affton area. Trees down, siding damage, power lines down, etc.

Apparently there is a lot of storm damage from last night in the Affton area. Trees down, siding damage, power lines down, etc. Power and tree folks have been crazy busy around here the last few weeks.
I drove through St. Libory last weekend for the first time since the storm. They're still cleaning up this week. There's a pile of trees/branches that everyone is bringing to the park in town that a picture doesn't do justice. One lady I talked to had something like 19 trees down on her property.

Today's 'Check on the Olde Drought' shows that parts of central and west central Missouri have been added to D4 drought status, the most severe category. Not much change elsewhere. Downtown remains drought free while the burbs on both sides range from D0-D2 on the highest around the outskirts.

Looks like 129 F is expected in Death Valley this weekend. Very close to the record. Yes that would be very close. I think WMO still recognizes 134F at DV the world record but now I think everyone except the WMO thinks that's bogus. So I think that puts 129.2 at DV and Kuwait as the probable official record. Now, I think DV has since observed 129.9 on a couple of occasions a few years ago that are not yet considered official (at this point you wonder if they ever will be?). So if Furnace Creek DV squeaks out a 130 in the next week would it even count?

I feel for the folks in the drought. I must say we have been very lucky imby and in the metro.
Here in south st.peters the ground is fairly soft and we have really come out of the drought. Up until the 4th of July holiday it was horrible, but the 30th into the 1st, and then the 1st into the 2nd dumped several inches, and we have been hit repeatedly since.
Last night I had 1.27 inches.
So not a bad start locally and in the immediate metro for July
