What are the expanding 'donut rings' that show up on the radar starting around 5:30am this morning?

What are the expanding 'donut rings' that show up on the radar starting around 5:30am this morning? They are called "roost rings" or "bird bursts". They are caused by birds taking off from their roosting site. glossary.ametsoc.org/wiki/Bird_burst

Just seems weird all those birds taking off at the same time without 'something' startling them.

Well folks, we hit 100 with a dp of 72. Honestly i dont remember 100 degrees with a dp above 70. As usually we mix out to the 60s. But it was miserable, and I will eat my words when it comes to not hitting 100 this week.
Only uncertainty for tomorrow is that while it.could be hotter will be cloud cover from storms. So we will see. I could see 98 to 100 if we have more clouds, or.I could see 101 to 105 if we get full sun with a start above 83. We will see.

Had a wonderful evening at The Muny enjoying Little House of Horrors with 3 granddaughters, a sister-in-law and my wife. The show started at 8:15 and the breeze was still quite evident but by 9:00 it was pretty still and pretty warm. The show was amazing and we did not mind sitting in traffic afterwards with the AC blasting.

Wow 86 degrees this early. Has got to be a top 10 warmest morning. Fortunately lots of clouds may keep temps at bay today in my opinion, much like wednesday, while still hot, not as much sun.

Well I think 100 is a safe bet today, maybe even 103 or 104. We are already 99. Wish those clouds stuck around today

Cedar Rapids is getting some pretty strong storms this evening. Reports of 90 mph wind gusts. Maybe the outflows will make it this far south.

I did a get a shower earlier because everything is wet, but the split again is insane. I was jolted awake by some thunder. I quickly scurried out to the outbuilding to put the 'rain skirts' up. I noticed the south facing doors were damp and water was already inside. (apparently, the builders of a few decades ago couldn't read a level. ) After getting spooked by a few close flashes I scurried back inside and pulled up the radar. Sitting here in utter disbelief. Maybe the only thing that will save humans near cities is to go underground and demolish the concrete and buildings.

Some chance that the MCS over Nebraska survives and rides down I-70, affecting the area sometime around 3-6PM

East of the metro area there were so many scattered storms it looked like a measles outbreak while west of the river the closest storm was west of Jeff City. And that was a solo storm. It really is discouraging

We need to watch that cluster up in NE closely later today...we're going to see strong destabilization into this afternoon with about 30-35kts of bulk shear. Mid-level temps are cooler today which should help sustain deep convection and strong updrafts. SPC has the SW half of the area outlined for that threat with the latest outlook.

I kind of performed a semi Rain Dance and was quite impressed (make that surprised😁) Let Me Explain..... I fairly recently picked up the acoustic guitar and started playing and several weeks ago I looked up Eric Clapton's Let It Rain and tried to get the chords down. When I started playing (using that term loosely😊)it over and over again the last hour or so two more cells developed NW of me and went over with a heavy rain shower and thunder.👍👍 I'm sure it added some to the new, upgraded, actual rain gauge. I'll look here shortly.

12z NAM lines up the MCS centroid pretty well with the SPC forecast...smacks the Metro around the 5-7pm timeframe
HRRR is in good agreement as well but an hour or two later. Models are pretty clustered on a track down the MO river valley this afternoon.
