Some chance that the MCS over Nebraska survives and rides down I-70, affecting the area sometime around 3-6PM The way the t-storm watch #566 is placed it looks to be heading right toward the metro area.

Areas affected...Missouri
Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 566...
Valid 291604Z - 291800Z
The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 566 continues.
SUMMARY...Bowing band of thunderstorms now crossing northwestern Missouri should continue moving east-southeastward. Continued risk for damaging wind gusts will likely warrant new/downstream WW shortly.
DISCUSSION...Latest radar loop shows a well-organized/bowing band of convection crossing northwestern Missouri, which continues to produce severe-caliber wind gusts.
Ahead of the storms, the airmass continues to destabilize, with an axis of 1500 J/kg mixed-layer CAPE now extending east-southeastward across central Missouri, along the surface baroclinic zone. Given the available instability, it appears that this MCS will continue through this afternoon, along with continued risk for damaging wind gusts. As such, new WW issuance will be required.

Nasty looking bow echo out near St. Joe with a well developed MCV/wake low and rear-inflow jet...may be a derecho in progress I was wondering if it can be called a deracho at this point considered its has remained intact for more than 100 miles and looks like it will hold together for a while longer.

Was thinking the same thing. Nothing crazy like 100 mph winds(plz)but still classic hot summer air long running bowed storm with his winds

Well just went thru that line in Columbia.
It’s going to catch people off guard if they are outside without a way of getting warnings. It went from sunny to 60mph wind gusts within 2 minutes. The outflow was well ahead of the storm.
Then the storm itself came, and another round of 60mph plus gusts, lots of small tree debris and branches down.

Some of the Fox2 futurecast radar has the storms weakening before getting to the area.

Gonna be interesting with all the people outside at the St. Charles County fair in Wentzville... Hope they have someone letting them know it's coming their way...

I'm in North St. Peters. I'll be surprised if there isn't tree or power pole damage near here. I'm watching mature trees bend 20 or 30 degrees

About 20 minutes ago while standing outside, that was one of the fastest dew point plummets (at least from the feel of it) I've felt in a long time.
