High of 102* and a HI of 126* today. Put this one in the history books... And leave it there. Forever!

Nice storm that popped up over West Belleville into Downtown Belleville. Won't have to water the lawn today!

Globals are trying to build the death ridge back in later next week, but there's light at the end of the tunnel...the EURO shows the 0* line dipping down to the US border by the end of it's run. We may not be quite done with the heat, but the worst of it is finally past us.

The MCV that moves through tomorrow afternoon could bring a strong storm threat...models show about 2500-3000j/kg CAPE and shear should be sufficient for sustained updrafts. HRRR brings a loose cluster through around mid-day.

Nice storm that popped up over West Belleville into Downtown Belleville. Won't have to water the lawn today! I was wondering why there were puddles on the street when I got home. Looks like a nice gust of wind too. .11 inches of rain and a gust that was measured at 20mph

I was looking past the cool shot and wondered if the heat was going to return. To my dismay, it looks for a possible sequel. However not nearly as bad. Fingers cross it doesn't change....

Decent chance at a CAT 2/CAT 3 hurricane hitting Florida on Wednesday.
I’m supposed to fly into Orlando for work, but looks like it’ll need to slow down for me to get a chance to see it.

Looks like more of a heavy rain threat today with that cluster coming out of N/central MO and a lot of showers bubbling ahead of it along the front.

Looks like 2 rounds today, One coming up now till around noon, then again after 9PM by the looks of things going into the early morning hours tomorrow AM like around sunrise or a bit earlier. Could get several inches of rain in some spots between the 2 waves. GFS touts about another epic heat wave while the other models show a moderating trend with some heat but nothing ridiculous, with more ups and downs rather then a huge blob of heat, so we'll see. Either way Dave's forecast is not fun for Fall weather fans, not till November anyway with well above normal temps Sept into October. However I think October will be quite active with a few rounds of heavy rain or even severe storms depending on how the pattern takes shape. CFS monthlies seem to agree.
All I really care about is if New Mexico is bone dry in October for the Annual Solar Eclipse on the 14th of October... I'll be flying down to Albuquerque, NM to visit with some family to see it as they are dead center of the greatest eclipse. They will reverse the trip and come here where we will drive down to Carbondale, IL area to see the Total Eclipse on April 8th, 2024. It better be dry and it better be nice and sunny on that date...

Outperforming the models this morning. I’d expect the same for the evening batch with the spin of the little mcv.

Decent chance at a CAT 2/CAT 3 hurricane hitting Florida on Wednesday. I’m supposed to fly into Orlando for work, but looks like it’ll need to slow down for me to get a chance to see it. Given the absolute jet fuel water in the gulf I wouldn't be surprised to see this system over perform
But right now most models are keeping it a TS

We're gonna have to watch the FF threat this evening...NAM shows copious rainfall along the MCV track into the Metro region. HRRR is much more scattered looking and looks underdone to me.
