Most models are still keeping Idalia a strong TS or low end Cat 1 Idk, Id wager on the high side of that

12z HMON goes low end CAT 4 over the panhandle…
12z HWRF is a strong CAT 3 near the panhandle as well, a bit east of the HMON.
I think my flight is toast

This evening’s GFS is crazy …… 3 landfalling hurricane’s And it shows Franklin nearly making landfall in Greenland at 946 mb. The Euro has Idalia and Franklin partially merging. It's been a weird a tropical season so far. We are in the midst of an El Nino and yet we're already up to "I" in the tropical storm names.

The Gulf of Mexico water temps I think at one point were near 101* F this summer. So much heat/energy in the ocean that has to be used eventually. I'm being master of the obvious. 😂 Bunch of other variables of course too.

Idalia could become Major hurricane now. Lots of questions and changes still. But forecast is thinking CAT 4 possibly before landfall.

Tampa needs to really be hoping it doesn’t turn right any more. It’s already going to have a lot of water pushed into the bay at it’s current forecast. Over the years they’ve managed to escape major storm surge there. In fact quite the opposite, the bay has been emptied several times over the last 20 years due to storms going to their south.

Yep, we’ve got another extended heat spell in our future I’m afraid. Enjoy this week!!! Crazy how much of a difference 2 hours less of daylight is on the air conditioning. I used less last week than I did middle of summer during 90+ days.

Yep, we’ve got another extended heat spell in our future I’m afraid. Enjoy this week!!! Crazy how much of a difference 2 hours less of daylight is on the air conditioning. I used less last week than I did middle of summer during 90+ days. For St. Louis, latest sunset time in June is 8:29pm. Earliest sunrise time for St. Louis is 5:35am in June. Sunset time this past week (Mon 21st to Fri 25th) was at 7:47pm to 7:41pm this past Fri (last day of extreme heat and humidity). Sunrise time (past Mon to Fri) was 6:20am to 6:23am. So we've have lost about 45-48* min from the sunset and 45-48* min from the sunrise. That's 1 hr 30 min to 1 hr 36 min we've lost in daylight from the longest days in June! Close to 2 hrs of daylight lost, but we will be there soon in September. When you said 2 hrs I was really curious if it had been that much and you were basically right if you round up to 2 hrs. 😊

Looks like a tick east of the forecast track as of this morning. Should see rapid intensification by this evening. Might have 2 major hurricanes circulating at the same time.
