It seemed like the seeds of the drought we had this summer were planted last fall when it turned off dry going into the cool season...but it was a very nice fall for sure.

Had a decent line of thunderstorms off offshore come in toward late morning and got several pics of water spouts but I can't access imgur. I don't have the app and I don't have enough space on my phone to download it. Yhere was probably five total that were spinning down out of the clouds and looked like two of them were touching the ocean but the second one was too far away I couldn't get it. The picture also shows a 'perfect wave'. We were still under a closed Beach double flag this morning at the condo but it was lifted to a red flag at St Andrew's State Park. After 5 hours my body said, "that is enough fun for today." It's a helluva workout body surfing.😊😊👍👍 Didn't have to pay any 'extra' money either.😁

Looks like extra clouds and scattered showers and storms will get in on the Mix too next week which would farther help keep temps down. This upcoming ridge is looking weaker then last week, and a lot 'dirtier' as well, which will most likely spare us from some September triple digits. Regardless the next 3 months look rather warm by comparison.

I kind of agree on how dry fall may end up. I think i would even bet on daves temp forecast as well. But i think we should watch out for some big rain makers late oct into nov as we try to step down.

You can see several funnels spinning down but the one just to left of center is on the water. Not sure how well the pics zoom in for viewers, hopefully you can see the 'disturbed' water. It was real easy to see with the naked eyes (with glasses on ) There were 2 on the water when this pic was taken but the other one was pretty far to the east. This was a nice line of storms. This was Thursday, 8/31 and Hurricane Idalia made landfall around 7am on 8/30. It was breezy on the 30th but we had mostly sunny skies, thank goodness. We also seen dolphins 'surfing' the waves on 8/29, it was awesome. We left FL at 7am on the 2nd and arrived home around 7:10pm. Not bad for 4 adults, 3 grandchildren, and 2 vehicles.

Here's a couple more pics. These are from early 8/29 when my daughter and I were sitting on the balcony. The first pic didn't turn out real well. This rainbow stayed visible for an hour. I only have 'proof' of 17 minutes. I don't think these storms were 'directly' related to Hurricane Idalia. I remember a meteorologist saying something about a 'stalled boundary' either the previous evening or that morning. As usual, the pics don't do justice to the highlights the sun was producing.

Hillary has come and gone and yet there is still rain in the Sierra and out into the Nevada desert; Mt Shasta even got some snow above 14,000 feet the other day. This usually the dry and wild fire season in that area. So why is it so wet there right now? By product of El Nińo? Early start to the winter wet season? Is this a portender of what the winter will hold?

Models are showing a massive hurricane developing in the Atlantic and threatening the Mid Atlantic seaboard in mid September.
Just huge in size and occasionally shown as a Major hurricane from an intensity perspective.
Interesting stuff.

Outflow from those storms just came through here and is packing a little punch
I’d guesstimate some 30-35 mph gust
