As far as the Cards go, I agree we need one more starter, and a top guy at that. But I am nearly certain that will not happen since we have already signed 3 pitchers. It is ok, but we need a little more. Better than nothing like the last few years.

The problem with the Cardinals is they will need AARP cards soon.

Sadly they spent 50 plus million and still don’t have an Ace So you have to actually win the Cy Young to be considered an ace, I guess?

In weather news, hopefully the beneficial rain comes to fruition Thursday. If we can take a bite out of this drought that should help us a bit later in the season one would think, since drought tends to feed drought.

Yeah there are multiple other pulses of energy poised to swing our way even after the rain system this week. I'll gladly take rain over snow instead of having no moisture/rain (I know I just hit a nerve to some on here). 😂 If it's not snowing, snowman isn't happy.

Widespread soaker is on track for Thursday into Friday. Good day to wrap up in the comforter and listen to the water trickle down the downspout. I'm thinking 1 to 1.25 totals will be pretty common. Some may be a little lower... closer to 3/4 inch... but still a healthy late November/early December soaker.

Some online forecasters are showing a much colder and wetter pattern starting around December 20 through the New Year. Is anyone else seeing this?

Yes, there are indicators that we may go into that type of regime,as Brtn mentioned the teleconnections are looking more favorable in December so not a long mild spell, the MJO is heading into phase 4 but moves into colder phases 7,8 and eventually 1 by End of December so yes there are signs..fingers crossed Mother Nature gets the cues.

Not a hall of famer but still a very solid starter.

The northeast is going to get clobbered this year.
Pretty wild to see the end of the 18z gfs run.
A 938mb nor’easter. I don’t even think that is physically possible, but a CAT 4 hurricane equivalent would be something.

Hard to believe that Thursday is the 17th anniversary/ceremonial birthday of MTW! Can it possibly be that long ago? Once upon a time some of you dug up hidden links to some of the old myfoxstl.com blogs. That would surely be some entertaining reading

But it was THAT storm that brought this group together as a breakout group and lead to the creation of this venue. I think if you asked the long-timers what the beginning was for them... they would all point to 2006 ice storm.

Sadly out of those 17 yrs we've probably only had a handful of good storms. Anybody care to find that answer out?? Lol

I remember blogging about the trees snapping and a brief drive around town in it. Until the power went out. It was so primitive at the time like chatting in the comments section. There can't be many groups as friendly and well run as this one. What I think is truly special is the interface between amateur and professional to further the science in our region through observations and research even if we get a little sideways wishing for snow and whining about wam and dam. I've met some mighty fine people here including good friends. Even taken a complete stranger 1200 miles around the Midwest chasing storms.

I can still remember reading the old forum, in my computer room in the back of my old house, listening to the rain outside in upper 20° temps. Then suddenly, huge electrical arcing outside, and darkness.

I was a Junior at CMSU(UCM) at the time of that storm. I had plenty of work to do when I got back to this side of the state for Christmas break. Cleaning up Pine and Cedar limbs for days. That was one of the best snow events of my life in the Burg. I was the only kid with a 4x4 in our apartment complex, which was a dead end at the bottom of a hill down from campus. Made a lot of trips to Walmart for groceries for neighbors who were stuck in.

Been on here since the start. Thanks Chris for providing those of us who just enjoy the weather to learn and in the process make friends. Buddy, whose picture I use, was born 23 years ago today. I don't think I'll ever change my picture.

Chris, thank you again for carving out this little place on the web for us!
Don't post much, but the Corner is and has been among my daily haunts for 17+ years...wow...no wonder there is gray starting to show in my beard.
If I recall, wasn't there another ice storm just over a month later in January of 2007? Seems like I remember a one-two punch in that timeframe...

memories of the ice storm on the original MTWSTL blog on the Fox2 site: - everyone losing connection and freaking out from time to time due to power outages (this was pre-smartphone for most of us, attached to the laptop and wifi) - STLWeatherFanatic kid going ape on Glenn while Glenn was live on air, and Glenn NOT being pleased, lol

We were without power for 2-3 days during that ice storm. Thankfully we had converted our fireplace to gas! We huddled in that room and grilled outside! When the Ameren trucks drove by, I stood on our front porch and applauded!

Your best bet for finding the original blog is using the wayback machine: web.archive.org/I remember I found the original blog one time but am having a hard time finding it again.
