This is probably old news to some of you, but that's a large chunk of Kansas with 0-1.

Woke up to a nice little covering of snow here in Cedar Hill. Didn't take long go away either.

Is tonight's snow looking pretty meh? Even with it being at night and the wind?

Is tonight's snow looking pretty meh? Even with it being at night and the wind? Always was...and radar doesn't look too impressive upstream. I'd be surprised if anyone gets much more than an inch.

Hopefully that is the message the public has received. I have done what I can to temper expectations. I think folks in here have done a good job being realistic. It's almost as if we have done this before lol. From what I've heard, people understood this was nothing more than nusiance/"mood" snow. Dave Murray coined "spot storms" and I'm proud to say "mood snow" was mine... coined at least 5 years ago I think.

Light rain/snow mix in Arnold for the past hour. Sitting at 35* it doesn't stand a chance.

Is the GFS still showing a storm after new year It has been showing some version of a major storm in the region around the 8-10th for a bit now. Tonight’s version is a Plains blizzard and rain for STL. Models have been hinting at a storm around the 5th as well. I think southern Missouri has a decent shot at something around then.

Southern jet is about to kick into high gear. While we have a ways to go, the pieces are starting to align in the medium to long range.

Gfs has been showing some serious cold building in the north as well.
Who knows if it will be released, but it does appear we are approaching an inflection point.
After all, there are only about 9 weeks of real winter available at this point.
Time to get cranking.

Its one of those weeks where we are coming off of many hours of snowfall, but the temp was never below freezing.
The atmosphere needs to recharge and January does have me slightly intrigued.
We will see. At least this week the weather felt like the holiday season, and as many have said much more wintery than the folks in the upper midwest. Even Chicago I dont believe saw snow this week while we did.
I hope everyone has a Wonderful New Years Weekend!!

Need to make up for lost time in short order.
