Radar looks pretty healthy in OK, so I think the going forecast is going to be just fine. Not a big ice storm, but definitely impactful... especially in the AM. Plus, 0.02" of ice is just as hard to drive on as 0.2" if roads, sidewalks, etc. are not treated.

First...it's a real thing winters have gotten more intermittent and shorter around d here..in many places. I remember cold and snow as a kid but I also wearing shorts at times in December or Jan or Feb. We've jad a few decent ones in the last decade or 2 for sure. But the periods of cold and snow are shorter and less frequent. Second...no one is ready for summer "after tomorrow". It's Jan 21. C....Blow torch to start feb? Maybe..but it's Jan 21. And it likely won't last long. Ok. Enjoy the ice.

If it looks like an ice storm it’s probably an ice storm.

HRRR and RAP seem to have initialized current precip pattern pretty well and their latest updates have a pretty reasonable look through midday tomorrow. This fortunately matches the going forecast so no need to make any adjustments. I really think our issues will be in the morning up through early afternoon. I really expect warm drops, latent heat release and an increase in precip rates to clear things up quickly starting not long after lunch. The exceptions may be where cold air is trapped in the valleys of the eastern Ozarks in SEMO and northeast of STL where low level dry air advection from the southeast may keep evap cooling going longer into the afternoon.

Columbia MO- freezing rain with little if any sleet…neighborhood street immediately iced over…was not pretreated.
Good thing the schools already called off…buses won’t be getting around in this.

SAFB is mission essential only. My son just left for work at Lowes. I wish more national brands would be more considerate than it came to inclement weather, and employees' lives were more important than the bottom line. There are a thousand other stores. Makes me so mad.

Might just be the lighting, but I dont see much ice in the trees. It is definitely on the pavement and deck. Rosie will have a tough time getting to the grass to do her business.

Getting reports that side streets and parking lots are pretty bad. One of the guys made it to work before I sent out the all call to delay start time to 9:00. He said highways weren’t bad, but he drove 35-40. That’s coming from Lake St Louis area (I think) to Page/170.

Son made it to work. Said the neighborhood streets and the side roads were pretty dicy. Said the more major roads were drivable, but the parking lot at the Belleville Lowes is a sheet of ice.

Roads are impassable, but not a bit of ice in trees. Definately warm rain.
Should melt nicely today

The lack of ice in the trees is notable despite temps in the mid/upper 20s. Definitely warm droplets. 29* currently in Brighton.

We are now in a big lull of precip down this way. Enough time to get above 32 before SWMO precip gets here?

Have to wonder why the 00z NAMs last night came in so dry? What data was/was not initialized properly?
