Hey Kim! I know so few peoples "REAL" names lol. Thank you. Our new owners require us to get signed permission slips to keep on file so I'll need to send you a link to the online form. Thank you! I know Rhodie. She's from Red Bud. Rhodie Uffleman. They posted the pics on Facebook today that she shared with you previously. I can get you in touch with her if need be. That would be awesome!

Glad many of you on here got to experience '82! Wish I would've. I wasn't born yet but heard all about it. My old man worked for District #2 STL County Road(was in an old barrack in JB before they moved to Cliff Cave Road) for 42(1969 to 2011) years. He said the early years he would FREEZE loading salt trucks, with the a large wheel loader before they got one with a cab on it. In 82 he slept at the barracks, they worked in shifts loading trucks. I am glad he never had to listen to the complaining on social media about the road crews. People seemed to take it more in stride back then.

I am glad he never had to listen to the complaining on social media about the road crews. People seemed to take it more in stride back then. That was the old District 5. I worked snow out of there early in my County Highway days when they used to make the young engineers do snow. I stopped having to work snow a year or two after they moved to Cliff Cave. It was an unbelievable setup. JB was an old munitions depot that was a long narrow rectangle with only one garage door at one end on of one the long sides, so you had to make an immediate 90-degree turn when you pulled in without much room to pull in before you had to turn. There was also a pretty good hill going down to the door. The garage door got damaged just about every snow shift. They would get all the trucks parked in the building somehow at the end of the storm so they wouldn't freeze up, and they never let the rookies even try to help with that. This was before the days of salt domes and the salt pile was out in the open between the bluff and the railroad tracks along the Mississippi. Since it sounds like your dad was the loader driver, I'll skip some of the stories about what went on down there . The salt pile wasn't all that particularly close to the garage, and the County used to hand out maps one by one as you completed them instead of having each driver have a pre-set group of maps (which they do now). The complete a map/get another map/get salt trip used to take about an hour before you were back on the road again. The shifts ran noon to midnight/midnight to noon then, so each shift got bogged down in rush hour (they run 7 to 7 now) I have no idea how they handled '82 as South County got it the worst and the poor setup made dealing with just about any storm pretty tough.

I would guess you crossed paths with my dad, more than once. I vaguely remember the JB building. I was pretty young when they moved to the Cliff Cave location. My dad could have made a lot more money running heavy equipment somewhere else, but I am not sure he would have had nearly as good of stories. Usually had a smile below his mustache and a cigar hanging out of his mouth while working.

AHAHAHAHA Last few runs of the GFS have completely lost the "cold snap" and all of our fantasy snow. Shunts the cold off to the northeast now, keeps us moderating between 60s and 40s through the end of the run - February 17th.
This winter's done - stick a fork in it.

Looking at one model for anything days away is a fools errand. Look at ensembles and that will give a much better idea usually. Seems like they want to build a ridge out west as time goes on bringing colder air down. It won't be fast and it won't happen all at once. But WI ter is not over. It's Feb 1.

Any cP airmass would likely be modified given the long stretch of antecedent mild wx, eroding the snowcover. I think by that, i would expect highs in the 30s, lows in the teens kind of thing, later in february.

65 here. Only thing to stop the rise would be clouds moving in, maybe.

My remote showed a high of 72* today. I see that Lambert ONLY got to 70*. Sullivan was at 70* for 7 remote obseravation cycles. Had to hit 71* somewhere between noon 30 and 2:30pm. I would like to think my remote is only 1* off. I sure thought there would be more 'interesting stuff' to track by this point. Today was amazing though.
