NBM said 98 F today. We made it to at least 100 F. NBM says 101 F for tomorrow. Given the NBM's low bias today I'm going to say 102 F for tomorrow. The thermal ridge looked like it weakened a bit heading into tomorrow, but we'll be starting the day out ahead of today temp wise...100+ looks like a solid bet for the Metro.

The record for Aug. 27th is 102 F set in 1881. That is a 143 year old record.

Looks like 81 will be the low at lambert this morning The previous record was 80 F set in 1983. There is a good chance this will be the new record. There is a slight chance of thunderstorms before midnight though.

When the dog goes out to run and potty and comes in and plops on the floor panting heavy, definitely not going for a walk. This is miserable.

My boss sent us home at noon. That is almost unheard of, extremely rare. Terrible heat out there today.

Awful weather pattern. Got spoiled last week and a little rain wouldn't hurt We need more than a little...the drought is rearing it's head again. Farmers are already cutting silage out here...doesn't look like a very good corn crop locally Agreed 100% My pond is dropping. My grass is dying. We need some rain.

A few little popcorn storms bubbling down this way. Won’t amount to much of anything but something to look at in the sky anyway.

102 F is the high for the day. Even though it tied the previous record the year does get replaced with 2024.

I think the old record should stand, since they didn’t have all the pavement/ concrete heat islands in 1881. IMO you’re going to see more records broke just because of that, and of course the report a while back of questionable thermostat locations.

Drove down the Family Center in Bonne Terre about 3:45 was inside the store had several good rounds of Thunder through the building just to the east of there but never did get any rain there. Hit a few drops on the way home Northbound 67 but other than that not a drop. I know this one the sun was out earlier about 2:00 when I was outside it was just piercing but I also don't have the insulation on top that I used to have. But then son went behind the cloud and it was really quite nice, or not as piercing hot anyway. I sure hope this heat is short-lived. Sounds like the Atlantic might get active soon.

A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 102 DEGREES WAS SET AT ST. LOUIS TODAY. THIS TIES THE OLD RECORD OF 102 DEGREES SET IN 1881. I don't understand how it can be worded that "A record high temperature of 102° was SET at St Louis today." Then followed up with, " This ties the old record of 102° SET in 1881." The record was not SET today. Is that not a part of basic English?? Isn't this a 'breaking' of basic English rules regarding present and past tenses?? Just seems like a weird way to word it. 🤔🤔 Just to clarify I didn't "attend" every English class back in grade school/high school so I could have missed something. 🤔🤔😁

I would expect some decent storms Friday. These intense heat waves always go out with a bang.

The concrete jungle is so much worse now than it was in 1881! Both record years should be listed today with an * by it!

Lot of lightning off to the east this morning when I was out watering. Drive to work consisted of places with water standing in parking lots, then bone dry road 1/4 mile past it, then more water standing...lather, rinse, repeat. I didn't look at radar, but must have been pretty blotchy.
