Decent pop up thunder shower/rain dump in OFallon IL. I missed pop showers. I was just about to ask if you got any. Nothing here.

I've gotten ppm alerts on my android before if there's a lot of pollution or smoke in the air.
It did not rain here

What’s with the air quality alert that just popped? I was wondering the same thing! Don't recall ever seeing that before, even last year when the air quality was awful because of the wildfires. They've been around before. Usually during strong July high pressure. Atmosphere gets capped and the city pollutants can't go anywhere. This from the NWS

Looking at the long range charts... two things are petty clear to me. 1) It's getting really hot for a couple of days. 2) It will then get very wet again for several days.
I'm not a fan of the pattern that follows the burst of weekend heat. Yes, it will take the sizzle away, but that pattern has the "pitching machine" look to it with cycles of repeating storm events firing through the region at semi regular intervals... and the "strike zone" appears to come right down the Missouri River into Missouri. Thankfully, the Missouri has fallen considerably the past few days, but the ground moisture remains high. We will dry out some over the weekend for sure... but the pattern for the middle of next week looks very wet to me.

Monday looks like an absolute scorcher...wouldn't be surprised to see many areas near or top 100* and we'll probably get close on Sunday.
That post-frontal airmass on Thursday looks exquisite.

Another pop up downpour on us this morning. Keep it coming. Just not tomorrow evening when we have the Clydesdale for an hour. Before and after that is fine.

What’s with the air quality alert that just popped? I missed the tweet that explained why. Ozone.

Had 2 good thundershowers/shower yesterday afternoon that interrupted mowing. Was able to finish by 8pm but it was still pretty wet. Had another thundershower this morning. Let's have NO talk of 100+ on Monday. The NWS has backed off 3 degrees over the last 24 hrs, I hope it gets knocked down some more. No particular reason other than taking 3 granddaughters to go see The Little Mermaid at the Muny. 🥵🥵🥵🥵 I see a high of 80 and 81 next week. Hopefully, just like winter, the air mass that comes down is a little colder than what's modeled and we don't get out of the 70's for 2 days, how about a week.😁 if these cooldowns keep happening could certainly be end up being a decent summer.🤔🤔🤔🤔

I drove all the way to Norfolk today. Richmond, had some of the heaviest rain I've ever seen about 6pm central time.

Fascinating how Perry County, IL keeps getting these isolated storms cells to park over it and get deluged repeatedly. Happened yesterday afternoon and is happening again this morning. Do they have a rain magnet over there or something?

It was amazing, and we are all exhausted. The food was delicious, several of the guests drank enough beer for all of us, and the accommodations were awesome. I haven't been on a tour there. It was great seeing the old stuff and having almost free rein of the schoolhouse for the bridal suite.

Today, I get to be on the other side of a deployment. I'm in Norfolk, watching my son's ship pull in after 9 months deployed. Having never been here, in this spot because I've always been the one returning, is quite emotional. I hope you all have a great Sunday! Stay cool.

Ugg...my normal site for the aircraft soundings isn't updated so I can't see what the 850 mb temperatures are in STL. That is super critical in figuring out our daily high. What was the rule of thumb? Add 10 degrees to the 10am temperature? I can't remember.

All these clouds will keep temps in check today It was decent for a few hours(besides for the sauna-like humidity) but get ready to fry...that was just a thin band of clouds along a remnant outflow boundary.

Any idea what is driving these little outflow boundaries? Temperature dropped and under a heavy sprinkle in High Ridge.
