The ratings for Cosmos were only down .2 from last weeks episode. Which is better than most new shows do in their 2nd week. I think people know what they are getting when they turn into a science show, and not a religious one. Another thing (I was reading on the net about the reviews and the complaints) about the ratings, is Networks (For years) have manipulated them to go the way they want them to be. I would like to see the 1/4 hour breakdown of both episodes. The .2 could have been those who turned it off last week. Like I said Networks have been doing it for years, and I don't see any changing, till they come out with a better way to track DVR and Net views. I know a couple shows I used to watch on other networks, would use the lowest ratings of the 4 1/4 hour segments. Just so they can say it was doing bad and cancel it. When you actually combined the totals, the ratings were better then stated. I know that network lost a lot of viewers because of it (Well, at least at that time.).

The problem becomes, as someone stated earlier, in this very tiny vocal minority demanding that their unscientific beliefs be presented as a counter argument to the science of evolution in public schools. And you know, I can see this in a way. My day in school, evolution was taught as "Theory". What was believed to have happened. Now I will not dispute the facts, but i think some have issues as it being taught as "Facts" vs the "Theory" term. Kinda like when I do a Karaoke show. I call it an "Event", not a "Gig". The term "Event" sounds like a fun time, vs. "Gig" which sounds like a grunge dirty band type of word. Just my personal opinion. So I think it is not only what is taught, just the "Term" that is used. When I was in school, my parents were just fine with it being taught. Now there is so much debate, just on the "Term" alone.

I thought last night's Cosmos was brilliant and applaud the audacity of Tyson, MacFarlane, and even Fox for showing it and not pulling any punches. I have never, in my life, heard natural selection and evolution explained better than I did last night, and I'm a big fan of the old Carl Sagan series. I have not got to watch last night's episode yet. I have it DVRed. I am going to watch it Wed night when Wife goes to bed. She is not a fan of evolution and gets very uneasy listening to it. So rather then debate about it, I will watch it after she goes to bed. But what I have seen from the first episode, it was a very well, produced show.

Ok, since I knew this had a potential of spawning off into a huge debate (And I mean debate, not name calling and arguments), I wanted to move this out into a general area where those who don't want to look, can overlook it. Being that I am a Christian, and also a student of Science, I have to find a balance between the two. Look into the Bible to see how it can relate to the facts we have. And where many will tell me I am just twisting the Word, to make it fit man, I feel that I am more "Relating" it, to transition on how the findings on earth can relate to the Bible.
Here is my bases on the whole Evolution theory Vs. Biblical teachings. In the Bible it is taught that the earth and the heavens were created in 7 days. The 7th being the day God rested. It is also taught, that God's "Time" is not based on a clock or a measurement. Kinda like your days off, they seem to fly by, but when at work, or something you don't want to do, the day goes on forever.
With that said, I believe God's measurement of a day could be a million (Just throwing a number out there, not a real measurement) years. WE DON'T KNOW. No where in the Bible, does it say that a day (in God's time) is 24 Hours, 60 minutes per hour. That is Human's setting. So God's measurement of time very well could be millions of years in 1 day. Once again, I am just throwing a number out there. So, in 7 days, in God's time, could have been 7 million years.
It also teaches there was a Garden of Eden. Thinking about that, you think of a Garden that is full with very green and fruitful. It was the best of the Best of the earth, and that was here Adam and Eve was. Now, what was outside of the Garden? No one knows. There are parts of the Bible that hints to (And I am wording it in my terms, and not scripture), sounds outside the garden. What was going on out there? Why was that area outside the Garden the "Bad" part of the world.
Here is where I am going to get into trouble (Especially if my wife sees this..LOL), I believe that is where the earth was evolving. I believe that is where the Dinosaurs were at. And who is to say that God didn't have side projects? Yes, humans were his Primary Project. But to think that we were the ONLY thing he was creating, would be very closed minded.
Yes, I know that many Christians will want to banish me from the Christian community for thinking this way. But no one can look to the night sky and think we are the only thing in the universe worthy of existence. The Bible teaches everything is here for a reason (Yes, even those pests that you can not figure out why they are on the Earth.). Hence everything in the universe is there for a reason. I believe there is a reason why we have not made it past the moon. God does not believe we are ready. When God feels we are ready, and have evolved into the beings God want's, then God will provide us with the tools and resources needed to accomplish these tasks. Will we ever live on another planet? IDK. Maybe God wants us to learn how to use the one we have. Once that happens, God will allow us to move on to bigger and better things....
Just my 2 cents worth....

So I am creating this area so we can DISCUSS the show, NOT ARGUE! I am going to ask the mods to move the current post over to here, then it can keep it out of the active weather posts. Please, keep it clean and have an open mind, because I know there are many on here (Along with me) that are religious.

Anyone know how to switch the display to the actual units, and not the rounded up/down units? I tried reading the directions, but they are as clear as mud... What I am wanting on the display, is the same I see on the web posts. Where it may say 29.7* instead of seeing 30* Press TEMP, then 2ND, then Units (TIME) TY

Ok, my vue has been running great!!!! I am hoping to move soon to our NEW used home, I may move a mile from our current location, or may move a few miles to the town I work in. So I may have to update the info my system sends out...
Now one thing I wanted to ask, what setting do you have you alarms at.. Like where are the sweet points you think should be set at. Also, in a post (Either in this feed, or another), someone said theirs text them when it hits those alarms.. How do you do that?

Ok...see my pretty kitty in my profile photo? Well, he is past due for a neuter job. Only thing is, i can't spend much money on it. Suggestions of where there are cheap clinics that will do it real cheap but not kill my cat? We have actually done male cats at home before without problem but I have asked husband twice and am tired of waiting for him to take a notion. So far the cheapest price I have gotten for a male is $60. Too high. I don't need a vet to up sell me on other stuff either. I take care of animal needs with herbal meds. At one time we were going to get our black lab fixed, IDK if it was through the state of IL or our county, but they sent us a certificate for a reduced amount to get your animal fixed. It was really cheap, like 20-30 bucks (We decided not to get her fixed because we want to breed her with another pure breed). If I can remember tonight, I will ask the wife who it was through. You can use it at any qualified vet.

Does anyone know, does the sensor under the Radiation shield plug in (for the Vue), or is it hard wired? I am wondering because all this stuff started since the last time I moved the unit (Directing it to the south). Since then, when it gets cold it works perfect, and when it gets warm, is when everything gets spotty...
I am thinking (If it does plug in), that it may be barely touching.. Causing the intermittent off and on Temp/Humidity/Dew point issues...

Just found something funny. Was working with my receiver (Still having an issue, but I think it is position, around to many electronics), and was trying to adjust the contrast. Next thing I knew, I was playing PONG with the DAVIS... LOL
EDIT: Hit the 2nd key and the right arrow, and it will put you int a game of pong.. LOL

Ok, for future reference (it seem like I am talking to myself in here).. I called Davis, and after going through a battery of different steps, he had me change my station ID to 4. And it seems to have worked. I had a brief second that it did the --- thing, then went back to broadcasting. So if anyone else has this happen try changing the ID....

Maybe someone can help... Seems my station is doing some odd things... All outside info is nothing but ----- But the wind speed and the BP. The indicator shows it is receiving. Once in a while, The temp will pop up, then go back to -----. This just started doing this this morning, that I have noticed. Could it be interference? I've tried moving my phone away from the receiving unit. I am not getting any reports on it from a bad battery or such.

Any help appreciated... I have my station IDs and such for CWOP and Wunderground. However, I can not figure out how to get the info to them. I kinda figure it is something in the weatherlink softaware, but that thing reads like Stereo instructions. No help at all. If anyone can provide a good, easy walk through, I would appreciate it. Also, once I start uploading, does the software need to be running all the time. I know using the Davis site, I can shut the computers down, and the unit will keep updating. I am just not sure how this all works... Thanks in advance. I won't be much help. I looked at the CWOP when I first got mine installed (a year or so ago), but still haven't gotten around to submitting anything. Let me know how it goes. It looks like everything is working. Wunderground has my site on my personal account, but not listed as available for a selectable site yet. They said it can take up to 24 hours. And CWOP site findu.com is reading my station, but the location is off a bit. I will have to correct that tomorrow after I get back from work tonight. Shows it North by almost 10 miles from where I am at...

Ok, I think I have figured it out. I don't need to have the software at all, just let the Weatherlink website transfer all the data. Since the unit is transmitting to it.

Well, got my unit in, assembled it, and all the good stuff. Have not mounted it yet, but messing around with it in the house. These things take quite a few minutes to link together. I was thinking I was doing something wrong. I finally got frustrated and walked away. Came back and they were communicating. Played around with wind speed and direction, and they are all working as far as transmitting.
I was a little disappointed that the mounting post I ordered was not the one in the picture. The one I ordered had an angle on it (As I previously posted), this one is just two straight poles that have mounting equipment on it like mounting it to the side/top of a 4x4 post. So while I am at work tonight, I am going to look around and see if there is a way I can use this where I wanted to, of if we have anything that I can use to mount this with there....

I had a lady tonight I work with tell me "I don't remember it ever being like this in the winter. The cold and the snow, and the wind Chills." Now this lady is a bit older then me, maybe 10-20 years older (If she is younger them me, then she tanned way too much). I told her that I remember as a kid, in grade school. The school started the Wind Chill rule. If the wind chill got below -30 the school called off. So she either has a very bad memory, or was not in IL/MO in the late 70's/ Early 80's. Heck I remember back in those times, a winter like this would be normal.

Ok, well it looks like my weather station was leaving the UPS processing station in Bloomington a few hours ago. So it should be ready for delivery tomorrow. Hoping they sent the mounting mast with it too. I ordered them at the same time. Then Tomorrow night, I will get the additional hardware needed to mount everything. I had a Compass on order, but it looks like it is running behind, so may just get a cheap one at work also, if it does not show.
I have Friday night off, so may come in from work Friday morning and hook it all up. I read that it only takes about 2 hours to set up...

I'm also looking to purchase old barn wood. Send me a PM if you have a barn that needs to come down, or are selling wood from an old barn! Thanks! Hey it is Chris's Trading Post.. LOL.. JK Giving you crap... LOL Was actually wondering when a section would pop up where individuals were eaither selling or trading weather equipment and such..

Have to see Sharknado Dschreib before the sequel airs later this year. Yes. Seriously. There is a sequel. They were talking sequel about 3-4 days after it showed. But you can almost find it anywhere. It is even on Netflix. And I am sure SciFi will play it 50,000 times before the sequel plays.

Just noticed if you click on the ellipses in the page numbers you get a field you can type in a specific page number. Also, right clicking on a highlighted word will bring up spell check.
Right clicking for spelling options is universal? At least that's what Chrome has lead me to believe. I didn't know it was special to this board. Actually in Fire Fox, it does the same, just not as fancy. It will just bring up a list of words in a drop menu.

Ok folks, here is the deal on the Chat Room. From the last talk, we are going to attempt my coding. Now I want to let you all know this is a Proto Type of what COULD be. We are going to use my chat room. The MiRC room will still be active. It is not going anywhere.
If this room don't seem to work, then I will work on if I can incorporate MiRC site on here.
So with that said, it will be up to you, the members to see how well this will work. All the Mods will have the ability to ban and get rid of riff raft.. I am also going to switch the room to where you have to register on the server to post. PLEASE use you handle on THIS board (Or as close you can get to it, if it is taken). You can customize you account as you seem fit.
But remember! This is Chris's board, and if he says NO, that is where it stands! Also, everything you express on the chat does NOT represent what Chris or other mods or members, NWS think. I remember a tag a while back that said "Think Before You Post". Use this warning. If you think Snow was a Hard butt on Moderation, I am worst.
Ok, now with all the formalities out of the way...
We will see if it works. Check back in a day or so

What is the advantage of "following" someone here? Looked in the help section, but couldn't find anything. I thought maybe it would notify you when that person posts, but doesn't. I reviewed my notifications prefs, but didnt see anything. Only thing I would think (Other then notifications), would you could quickly find their post, by clicking their profile... Not quite sure. That is a newer feature to the board since I last had one.

Does anyone know if there is an app for I phone for the chat? IDK about the MIRC. And also, the one that I am working with Chris and the mods.. I am not sure it will work on a phone. Because of the tables used in the programming. However, There is a direct link you would be able to get JUST to the chatroom, if Chris and the mods decide to go that route.

and the "interference" is highly debated Well, I do know that cell phones will effect the "Cheaper" equipment. I don't mean JUNK, but the lower end. I give you an example. My wireless mics I have. They are not "Top of the Line" mics. They sound good, and are reliable. But I didn't want to dump a bunch of money into mics that could get dropped by "Over indulging" adults. So I went with a lower end (Not cheap cheap), Wireless mics. I only hand 1 out of the two, I keep the other one for just my use (Mainly so I don't get others germs and beer on mine.). If I get a cell phone near the receiver, it will either send a signal into it making a repeated "Dit, Dit, Dit" sound. Same with cheaper computer powered speakers, and some TVs and Surround sound systems. HOWEVER, I would think in planes they would not have the lower end equipment in there, and should be shielded quite well. At least with the technology we have now.
