absolutely bonkers. having to float until you sink would probably be one of the worst ways to go out.

i.imgur.com/KzMTXHJ.pngThat is going to be one hell of a band of snow to be under tomorrow. Looks like the TSSN potential is high with bubbles of CAPE streaming off of lake michigan.

Not to sound crazy but I swear we have snow flurries here in Shrewsbury right now. It’s 45 outside but I definitely recorded flurries. Wouldn't be surprised. Nice little frontogentic band has developed. Probably an extremely shallow layer of warm air at the surface. This is a big punch of cold air aloft.

Looks like there will almost certainly be snowflakes flying out of the sky in STL Monday morning. NAM Nest sets up a beautiful river-enhanced band along the "nose" of Illinois border straight into the metro... At least that what it looks like it's doing. Sfc gusts are nearly parallel, up to 25-30 mph.

It's also looking chunky with the midweek storm too. All sorts of new adjectives this winter season. Chunky? Us millennials have a different way of describing things.

I will say this, this pattern is... wonky. It's definitely way too early to be calling anything off next week. There's so much sloshing around in the upper-levels with these big, elliptical vortices that all the models are going to be having fits until 48-72 hours up to the event. Still need to get through Sunday night too. this alone should say enough i.imgur.com/kQMZQ7z.png

EURO hints there could be a Sunday night surprise south and east of STL. Nice spread of deformation precip northward. Suggest a mix possible.

Seems like there's trend towards the upper low becoming a little more progressive, drastically dropping snow totals between IND and CLE. That cutoff and stall was gonna be key in getting those big amounts-- temperatures certainly were never going to help as they had a marginal look through the entire snow event,

What's going on with the 00z NAM run? I'm getting it fine on COD... something wrong with what it's printing out... or?

That weird, sheared out ripple of vorticity that the GFS has finally resolved in a somewhat normal manner was obviously an error... for you model-heads, any idea what caused that? I see what you're talking about. I wonder if that is a post-processing artifact unique to COD? It kind of shows up on Pivotal too... Just looks like those earlier GFS refused to snap off that vort max, and instead sheared it out over about 1200 miles. Good ol gfs.

unfortunately its phase is a bit messy and the main circulation takes a while to get going.
