That's almost amazing to have ice flow that quick after record warm December. I know its been cold up north, but still pretty impressive, I would not of though the waters would be supportive this far south for ice on our rivers

Yes this is a weather pattern that almost just crushes you mentally, to almost where you dont care anymore.
However Ill admit its very nice sitting on the porch this evening. Crazy how mild 44 feels after being in the deep freeze

I feel the gfs has been perfect 3 to 4 days put. I personally dont care whats 2 weeks out. Most of what matters of there is ever a big storm coming 2 to 3 days is all the general public needs to prepare. So i. Short term GFS is perfect

At least the landscape companies can still make money for these non events. I know the company I used to work for loved it because they got paid regardless if the storm materialized

Im sure all pf us could careless if today happens or night as we all dont want freezing drizzle. One thing is for sure there is no need to salt the roads the rest of the year, home depot and all places with parking lots in st.peters have been salted or they are out salting now, as well as the city salted out streets. I appreciate everyone and all these landscape companies being cautious but good lord, they salted our non event on Thursday, and now they are salting out potential non event today. I would of thought what was down was enough. When we get rain tonight all this salt cant be good for our waterways. As our creeks are going to turn into the dead sea lol

The wind is so strong it may keep things from getting too bad as it evaporates almost instantly

Based on the polar vortex, isn't it a good thing in a way that it os locked up at the pole to really help re establish the artic sea ice. I know we like when it gets dislodged, but technically when it is very strong like it is this year isnt that good for building the Ice nice and thick in the artic.

Yes and air temps dont matter much until the surface is above freezing which is usually a very slow process after a cold snap like this

This chunk of cold air we have tonight means business as well, with no snow on the ground in the metro we are making a strong run towards 0. I think 2 or 3 is the forescast in St.Peters. thats impressive to me coming off of a record warm december and having bare ground.

Thats what I am thinking, anything that develops will have to make its own cold air, as the entire country is nearly at or above freezing
