And we thought the big storm in January was weird(it was). But this is just a whole 'nother level of strange. Also, I hope someone on here sees thundersnow tonight. And truly... a fraction of degree of warming anywhere in the lowest 5k feet will tip the scales from snow to rain. I am guessing there wont be any evap cooling?

We are to drive back and forth from Mizzou Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to watch our kid wrestle in the high school State tournament. That ought to be reason for all kinds of travel hindering weather! Can't get a hotel room unless you try a year in advance! Cld you try jefferson city for a hotel room? been that way since I wrestled in in state in 2006. Glad to see that wrestling is still running strong!

My wife works this weekend at the hospital. Last time she did we had 14” of snow and was stuck on the other side of the Meremac. Something will happen. At least this time she has food for the weekend.

Ain’t nobody got a clue even about tonight. Models don’t have a clue. Glad I’m not having to message any of this to the general public

correct me if Im wrong, but....If the moisture keeps up at about 33 degrees as rain, it should cause evap cooling to make everything fall as snow/sleet?

How is I44 west from 270 out to six flags? As of this moment both directions look to be closed at the antire hill. Below are the cameras in the area. The first one is hard to tell in a screenshot, but it appears all of the vehicles in that picture in either direction are emergency vehicles/plows. The 2nd one shows the WB backup between 141 and Antire. WB Backup is at least to Bowles and all cameras look like they are at a stand still. THANK YOU!!! We decided to stay in a hotel is probably safest given the incoming wave of heavy snow and that traffic is at a standstill. Why I love this place!

I dont think ppl will be sitting on the highway all night long much less two nights. My Dad, for one. He’s at 44 and antire road. Been sitting in the same spot since 3pm due to road closure. Only a 1/4 tank of gas left and he can hardly walk after recently having surgery on his foot. Headed east or westbound of 44? Trying to determine traffic impact for my wife headed home from stl to eureka

no ranting, real questions. A. Friv where did you get that update about the heaviest snow coming in? B. I have a wife who is a nurse in creve coure and cant leave the hospital till 8 IF she gets lucky. Only problem is 6 of the 10 nurses coming in for relief for her floor are "stuck in" because of this and we live 20 miles away in eureka and 44 is beyond a cluster currently. So planning this is a little hard even if we mention it may start earlier this morning and a few inches possible by evening commute. C. Its not a few currently, I just measured in Eureka and we are just shy of 6" already!!! So I dont even know if my wife will be able to make it home tonight cause of the snow. ok, maybe that was a rant but I almost feel like I let her down not seeing it coming because I heard from so many sources that it wont be what models were calling. But other than starting early, they were fairly close to totally currently.

Yes. He showed two model accumulation possibilities. He said he's not going with the NAM, but that it has to be considered as a possibility. But did he say what HE was going with? I only ask because I have been away from my TV and I am curious what the boss is saying. "6-8"

Its really odd having every model over an inch qpf..some way over, and not have a single forecast even for 10 inches on the high side. This is disturbing. Hmm It is called being a good, careful, thoughtful forecaster. We already have a forecast of 4" to 8" ... that gets us where we need to be until the entire system is sampled. If the data still supports the bigger numbers...then I will bump mine up. But for now... 4" to 8" looks good. I think the NWS situation report that they started making does an EXCELLENT JOB of breaking things down by timing, range in snowfall total amounts and likelihood. Wish it was more advertised and pointed at for guidance to the public. www.weather.gov/media/lsx/sitreport/SitReport1.pdf

my point forecast from NWS shows if a total of 5-11.5 inches based on the ranges for each time frame through sunday evening...that's nuts. trying so hard to not get excited
