QPF roundup at the airport: 0Z EPS: 0.7" 0Z GEFS: 0.6" 0Z UKMET: 1.0" 0Z GFS: 0.4" 0Z FV3: 1.0" 0Z ECMWF: 1.1"
Most interesting thing that stands out to me is that the GFS and GFS V3 are the 2 total opposite sides of the spectrum from all the other models

There’s a report of a mudslide out between Overland Park and Lawerence Kansas on mPING. Never seen that before; especially during blizzard conditions.

I’m not worried. The way the seasonal patterns are setup we are way ahead of most years

Hadn’t peeked in since Wednesday and not going to lie, it’s like a drama with the model updates and the swing. Glad to have some excitement so early.

Anybody catch Glens long range? I completely forgot. 😕 Yes. Sorry Chris, but I was extremely disappointed with it. Felt like a documentary with a 3 minute forecast for 3 months at the end. TLDR; normal year 17”ish snow total for season

FYI... I am on the air at 330 am tomorrow so if you are up and able... post pictures and storm reports... I will need the content to fill many hours. Are u saying it’s hard to fill 4.5 hours with snow storm coverage the entire time? No way?!?! I’m sure I won’t be able to sleep

For those still interested. There is still a chat room. In IRC in on the Quakenet. the room is stlweather Why don't we create a discord channel for that instead of using IRC. Discord saves conversations so people can scroll through the thoughts and it leaves open voice chat options as well. Or slack...

Ignoring QPF...GYB key centers are nearly ideal on FV3, NAM, etc. If anything my north south band may need a slight nudge west...but looks reaaly good with track of 500 and 850 lows. This is a major winter storm for most of STL metro IMO Haven’t heard those words in a long time

When was the last time we all had a pure snowstorm? Both sides rockin! I can't remember the last big waa event here. You can get some really big numbers from them. Been soo long ago. Our waa stuff usually gets mucked up with rain or sleet January 5th 2014 Yes! That was the storm I legit wasn’t able to leave my subdivision for 5 days.

I wouldn’t expect anything till 3:30/4:00 am when they do the normal morning updates. I found this nifty “situation report” with some pretty cool details I haven’t see from the NWS talking about specific high and low end expectations and confidence of “an” event occurring here. Pretty cool actually. www.weather.gov/media/lsx/sitreport/SitReport1.pdfI would assume they will do another either in the morning or mid afternoon again tomorrow.

Anyone take a screenshot of that? He showed the latest data - Looked like he was going off NAM I feel like he was pretty clear that likely someone will get close to 10 based on that model but was expected to be within 25 miles east or west of east st. louis. Never said for sure 10" in metro Stl just that its possible and to keep an eye on the weather.

Does that say 13" bdgwx? Holy cow Yes. If you get the BBQ grill lit up I'll bring the beef. None of that lean junk either. It's going to be fat and juicy. Grilled some filets last night, first snow tradition for years. Not sure where to upgrade from there...always willing to try

I'm still in disbelief I'm covered by a winter storm watch. How long has it been since we've had one? Someone had a count going at one point. years, St louis metro still is on a long drought

Well the name has been pretty close far. What’s the stock we put in the nam 3k then? If we already have the large area at 3inches seems like we will have more of the 5-7 then 3-5

Post by Spaz(Wrestlerdude) on Sept 7, 2018 20:38:36 GMT -6
no one look at the 3k nam totals, all I can say is wow....the max its printing out is 13 inches in lolly pops in franklin county. in st louis county it showed 10 inches still. I know, its cherry picking just crazy how high of totals it's calling for

And another warning for Jefferson county. That wave seems to be almost training and as Gordy start to pivot it may almost become stationary

Chris showed the NAM on his Facebook video and basically said this is stupid.
Man am I glad I trust Chris or I would be freaking out.
Good job Chris(as always) acknowledging the model(the one model some people on internet will focus on) and explaining the why it’s wrong.

I know it's computer generated, but the river forecast for the Meramec at Pacific has gone from 8.5 feet down to about a 2 foot rise now. They actually are not automated or they would be issued year round. So guessing they are expecting significantly less than before.
