Fox2 weather app’s radar has the precipitation kind of falling apart and weakening as it traverses the state. Accurate?

I thought “nowcast” was a banned word. Along with t-o-w-e-l?

Chris, I was driving through that band. At 270 and Gravois - it was coming down really really hard. The flakes were pretty big, and it was snowing hard. I know it’s not safe, but I pulled out the radar and I saw the enhance blue band as I was driving through it. It definitely was the strongest snow I’ve seen in a while.

Roads definitely are not great. Just made the treck on 270 from Tesson to West County Mall.

I mean. C’mon! Memphis under WSW: 4-6” expected. Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right. Here I am stuck in the middle (with all y’all). How do we NOT get the NW nudge when we need it, but only get it when we don’t. Mother Nature is cruel and wicked. Honest, scientific answer is probably the Ozark Plateau. - I knew the answer, I just wanted to complain. At my gym this week one of the trainers asked me why we get hosed as much as we do. I said it was the Ozark plateau. I also added added a touch of the urban heat island

Relatives in Nashville TN under a winter storm watch - up to 4.5” expected. I think they had an over-achieving snowstorm last year that gave them more snow than we’ve seen in a while. Our snow void is no joke.

Meanwhile winterstorm watch in the mid south including memphis and jonesboro, ar I am not seeing any Winter Storm Warnings yet in South - Am I missing something? The watch is there “under” the wind advisory which is occurring now. The advisory takes priority over the winter storm watch which isn’t showing up in the visual representation

Ukmet is good for a few inches along and south of 70. I feel as if the ukmet may have been a decent model this week overall compared to others Love the optimism, but was the UK really that good compared to the others?

An hour ago you could see the road. Plow went through not long ago, and it's covered. Hey! Tell them to give us back our modeled snow.

It is difficult to imagine a more depressing week of weather than what we have come through for folks who thrive on winter weather. Few times in my career can I remember a more favorable pattern that has failed to deliver results... and done so in rather spectacular fashion. I do think the ready availability of model data to the public beyond the short range has fueled this because everyone can see the fantasy charts that pros have seen for years... but were able to ignore because we know better. My daughter just asked me tonight, “what types of things do you look forward to? What helps you get through a bad day?” I wanted to say “tracking a snow storm and then it hitting us!” But instead I said, and I’m not kidding, “..that idea of a snow storm hitting us”.

This will hopefully keep your spirits up a bit... The in house IBMgraf model... which nailed last Friday's event 3+ days out and did a fantastic job with the early week system is printing out this... Does it go out 96+ hours?

Haven't seen him on here in a long while. I assume sleetmegedon burned him pretty bad. Id be interested in the top 3 forecast busts some of the top professionals in the area would recall for their careers. Severe weather or winter weather. He has bigger fish (no-pun) to fry as the boss of STL Weather! Biggest bust in my life is without a doubt, the blizzard of 1982! 2-4 became 24! I've never seen anything like before and hope we don't ever again. The next biggest bust might have been in the early 2000s... I can't remember the date... but Fred Glass wrote a paper on it. Everyone forecast 6-10 for a southeastward moving "super clipper" but the dry air won and we got next to nothing....anywhere. I remember that storm well - and yes, BRTN, same storm. Local TV Mets were trying to will the donut hole to close. It was not great. Chris - is the write up avail on the internets?

Off topic: but is anyone else dealing with the annoying Fresh Tyme ads that are causing the pivotal weather site to be useless each time you click? It’s happening in Google Chrome on my Dell and started happening in Safari on my iPhone.

Looking at the modeled snowfall vanish has me thinking of the song, “And All That Could Have Been” by Nine Inch Nails.

Snowman99 I'm gonna give you a pass on that comment... first because it made me laugh out loud. But second because of what your dealing with. But lets try and keep it TV clean if at all possible lol. I'd be kind of interested in knowing what his point of reference is for that! You sure you want to know?

Are we “two-weeking” ourselves through Tues to get to fantasy-land next weekend already? I don’t think D6 is really fantasy land. GHD storm was a 20+ page a day storm for 8+ days. I was just being difficult

That was a very narrow band of that heavy snow- I'd say less than 20 miles wide I was at work in Sauget when it happened. I think we had around 6" there, but dwindled to nothing by the time I got home. I was working at 64/Timberlake where we got hammered with snow. I couldn’t leave because it was coming down so hard I feared getting stuck. Once it ended, I drove home to shovel the driveway so I could get the compacted cement shoveled so my 8 month pregnant wife could get into the garage. I know Mehlville saw a lot but I couldn’t measure as it was compacted way down. My pop dropped off a snowblower so I could get it cleared in time. It was an amazing snow.

Similar to today other than being overnight?

I watched a couple of chaser videos of the Fenton tornado and was wondering if the tornado actually crossed 44? There were a couple of power flashes on the north side of 44 behind the larger Maritz building. Or perhaps that was just on the outskirts of it - they are estimating 100 yards wide…thoughts?

Holy smokes. I don’t think I’ve ever been that scared. That rotating wall cloud over 44/270 that Chris was live streaming - I could see from my deck and watched it pass as long as I cloud before it got too scary. I think I saw something rain-wrapped but wasn’t sure. I didn’t think to take the camera app out bc I was staring at the radar waking around nervously. Eventually went to the basement since we had 6 teenagers with us, along with a dog and 2 fish.
I’ve never been that exhilarated / scared at the same time.

Why? Because the storm chances decreased? I'm pretty sure snowman is 'fed up' with our 'resident AI, snowstorm920' for constantly updating any new news just before snowman posts it. I'm just guessing. ^This
