The 00z ggem is not great. Further south/weaker vs. the gfs. Canadiens, eh?

Just seen an article that the Farmer's Almanac is colder and snowier here. It didn't have a map but it sounded like this area was involved.🤔🤔🤞🤞🤞 I saw a map on a page discussing this upcoming winter and how it will impact the Minnesota area -- we are smack dab in the middle of a "Cold, Snowy" area vs. being on the dividing line. If the map is legit, which it appears to be...we MAY be in for a fun winter, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac. Link for reference

I don’t know how much I got, but at 11:40 last night mid-thunderstorm, I had to go out and backwash the pool to keep it from over-flowing. Then I woke up at 6:20 to the sound of more rain and the need to backwash the pool to prevent overflowing with the backbuilding / training line of heavy rain overhead. Crazy amount of water in a matter of 10 hours.

My entire neighborhood in Ballwin is outside talking about it. We all felt the BOOM. That was weird. I heard what I thought was the beginning of thunder rolling. Then a “boom” although not a boom. Then the thunder sound moving away. I suspect earthquake. Anyone confirm? USGS has it. Centered 3KM SW of Peerless park

everyone knows daylight saving time means physically slowing down the earth's rotation to keep the sun up an extra hour everyday. I mean, duh. Wait. The earth rotates? How do flat surfaces rotate?

A very peaceful tiny-flake snow falling now on the eastern side of Sunset Hills.

That 5400 line has wobbled north a tad. I think the snow is done here in the south. Sleet city rest of the storm.

I remember that non-event in the early 2000s. I drew on my whiteboard at work what was going to happen and had stayed up late waiting. And waiting. Then I had to explain what went wrong on that same whiteboard the next day to a bunch of grumpy co-workers who were convinced it was going to be a snow day. I was an NBCer at the time and my I can still hear the tone in their voices trying to will the snow to break through. It was a total bust and I felt really badly for the on-air personalities. Never under-estimate the power of the DAM. A lesson some of us (me) still haven’t learned.

I concur with the school issue on Thursday. I think districts will have a difficult time grappling with the “what if” scenarios. Calling off school in the morning with rain falling may look stupid if it doesn’t ice up later. But if they send the kids, and the storm does materialize then you’ve got a dicey situation. And Lindbergh has used 3 of their 4(?) snow days already.

Glenn just said the metro is not done with snow. Round 3 later tonight is a go. He was pretty vague. It looks like the southern viewing area MAY get it.

Whichever radar the Fox2 weather app uses - some needs to plug it back in.
Speaking of - which setting is best for tracking incoming snow on RadarScope?

Is that snow in Rolla hitting the ground? I just looked at Modot traffic cams & it's starting to cover the roadways with blowing snow. Thanks man. Didn’t know the MODOT app had traffic cameras throughout MO. That’ll help looking for ground truth!

I didn't see much if any data that supported 4" of snowfall across the S Metro with this first round...just saying. Had the sleet changed over quicker, it would have been doable, but that wasn't really supposed to happen down your way. The snow line pretty consistently stalled out roughly along 44 in the metro on the modeling with wave one. That was confirmed with a persistent warm wedge between 850mb and 700mb on the soundings. But even then models were trying to throw down some 4”+ totals around here. I thought there was maybe a slight chance dynamics could overcome that, but never doubt the WAA. No kidding.

The difference between 1” of sleet and 4” of snow was a fine line that we only figured out where it would be once the starm finally started going. While frustrating, it is what it is. Next wave, please. I’m making the point that it was fine line between winners and losers, that’s all. We knew it’d be there. I was hoping it’d set up south of me. But alas.

I don't really call an additional 6-10 inches "number shaving" I think some on here have had this apocalypse mentality when in reality, this storm is performing as advertised. Models have done an outstanding job of laying this storm out and in the end, this will have been an outstanding storm to follow. Here's to tonight It's always the same story from the same people...
Every. Single. Storm.

Not sure about the rest of you, but as long as I cannot see any blades of grass, I’ll be good.
I wonder if there is concern with either trajectory or sleet contamination overnight?

Just a hunch - but once that 5400 line makes it past, I’ll kick over to snow? Hitting refresh doesn’t make it go any faster, by the way.
