Shouldn't the models be getting a full sampling of this thing more or less this run? Probably just partial...still quite a bit of energy on the backside still just off-shore. Look at that pac moisture.... yummy

Our in-house mesoscale model, which has similar parametrization to the GFS is starting to pick up the TROWAL feature on Friday, which it avoided this morning.

Are you drunk? I see minor differences, very minor. Could be a trend. Maybe not. Seems like a bigger jump over in my neck of the woods. and a displacement between the heavy band from Central IA pulling it down into the quad cities.

That clipper energy Monday has sneaky written all over it. The atmosphere is going to be very cold so it won't take much moisture to kick off some accumulating snow. Snow liquid ratios will be sky-high if anything falls the post in question... nice job

Stinks that this all falls across 3 days. If this thing had a bit more going for it in the upper levels, could be a pretty nasty event. That's a decent slug of precip from the pacific.

beautiful pea-sized flakes, blue & purple skies in the sunset, mid level clouds spilling through. Bitterly cold. It's like a perfect winter evening out right now.
