The Davis on the roof in North St. Pete is not impressed with the measly .73" from this morning. He has requested another slow inch or two, please. The radar does not look promising for anything else in the near future.

WPC has a moderate risk of excessive rainfall for the area today. Couple of highlights from the discussion

You guys got more rain than us... no surprise. We only got .15" out of the last batch that moved through. 1.95" total now.

Yea, mixed layer CAPE already in the 3k range down south and building in. I would expect some tremendous lightning with these storms this evening and crazy rainfall amounts in some areas.

Wouldn’t mind a good storm here. Not 3+ inches of rain though. Still dry at the moment.

The lightning in this mornings storms was crazy continuous and absolutely brilliant. If it is anything like that this evening... I would love to get some video this time.

Feels like the sky wants to open up. It’s so thick out.

WOW...look at the radar lighting up along 70 and to the SW already! This could end up being a top tier FF event for parts of the area after it's all said and done.

Reservoir of highly unstable air running into a wall of rain cooled air centered NE of the metro I'm guessing this would lead to some major training along that boundary? What a crazy ! BACKSIDE ! setup.

Now that you can overly mPING reports on RadarScope they need to have more options other than “rain”.

BACKSIDE ! setup. Ya some strong moisture convergence going on along that CAPE gradient. I'd expect that boundary to light up even more as we head through the afternoon thanks to strong differential heating
