Concur with the thoughts of 100 next week. The hot temps back off in the models after 2 days of triples, but the upper flow does show more of a pronounced sw flow, so im thinking a prolonged heat wave is possible with some breaks due to local storms, overall, the expected avg temps will make this week feel comfortable in comparison. Enjoy the cool for now.

Just flipped back to 2012 to see how next week will stack up. Not even close. We had several 83-86 degree low temps that year to go along with the 104-107 highs. Crazy.

It looks like we'll have a new tropical depression and perhaps Tropical Storm Fay pretty soon. The 2020 Atlantic tropical cyclone season is off to busy start.

I have a question about my vantage vue. Couple days ago, got home from Springfield around 2 pm the Davis said it was 104°and a HI of 116°! Except the car read 90°? Now the last 2 days it has been dead on. Anyone venture to guess as to why it went haywire for 1 day? Could it actually have had that temp out there in the pasture 12 ft off the ground? Thanks!

Mine routinely reads 6 to 7 degrees hotter than what my car and KBLV report. I think the sensor in mine may be really close to the housing and is getting false readings. Right now it says 96, car says 92 and KBLV is 91.

Was that happening all day or just around 2pm? Could you have had some source reflecting solar radiation right back at the sensor? A window, metal siding/roof, etc.? Doesn't even have to be all that close. Otherwise I'd think off the ground in the middle of the pasture would be an ideal spot and just chalk it up to an unexplained glitch. Maybe someone else has some other ideas.

Thanks for the replies. As far as all day, don't know didn't get home till 2 and seemed to comeback around 6? Been steady since. I thought it odd to be that far off. Typically its within a degree or 2 of the old mercury thermometer which seems to match the vehicles as well.

Besides the decent chance for storms Saturday, this weekend is looking pretty nice considering how this week has been and time of year for that matter. Lows in the 60's at night for a few nights will be great. Enjoy it before the heat wave that kicks in next week.
There may be a wind threat with the clusters of storms that come down in the NW flow, but those may stay just to our west.

Busting out the sprinklers this evening. Grass is getting real crusty here. Looking forward to a nicer weekend

Can feel the bit lower humidity and with a little breeze it's not too awful out right now. Sprinkling lawns is a waste of time and money, seriously.

Busting out the sprinklers this evening. Grass is getting real crusty here. Looking forward to a nicer weekend Much more beneficial if you water in the early mornings and longer durations and less frequency. If its already crunchy then it’s to late in all honesty. You’ll just promote weed germination and growth of that. Irrigation is beneficial if done properly tho.

I dont think we will see any hotter than this week next week, looks like things are quite aggressive with a front across the area next week

There may be some potential for outflow, but the ridge looks to dominate. I hope I'm wrong.

Let’s hope the 15z RAP is right. It is very wet across the area tomorrow afternoon/evening I was just looking at that...like STG said, the setup tomorrow looks to support a derecho/MCS across the region in the active NW flow. The EURO looks like it wants to turn it S/SW across MO towards the reservoir of high CAPE...but I suspect with the stronger forcing and divergence aloft displaced substantially further N/NE that it has a good chance of tracking SE through our area. If enough instability is realized, there should be a decent threat for severe wind and possibly a few tornadoes with plenty of shear.

Have to disagree with DM for tomorrow...spotty, limited storms probably won't cover it...but I guess we'll see.
