Heck of a storm moved through here...Skies got dark, winds got very heavy. Power went out...winds blew down a huge oak tree...just missed the house, but not the deck... I’m so sorry. That’s awful.

Impressive lightning and thunder in Perryville as the approaching storms are intensifying. Right at bedtime for the 4 and a half month old. Does anyone know what the color shades on total estimated accumulation correlate to on radarscope?

Apparently there is some pretty substantial tree damage in Mascoutah proper. My weather station is about 6 feet off the ground. The highest gust it registered was 26mph. I am certain there were gusts higher. I have no damage at my home so it wasn't as high as in town that is 3/4 of a mile south of me.

Man, this line has been sitting on my northern doorstep for over an hour. Probably some flash flooding there. Finally starting to sag this way.

Definitely what appears to be a rotating wall cloud just to my north. It has weakened but it was pretty substantial a few minutes ago. Velocity indicated some broad rotation.

Quite a few others here in town reporting the same thing. And reviewing my little time lapse clip it was 100 percent a formidable rotating wall cloud. Now the rain and wind and incredible lightning.

Oh... and before I hit the sack, tip of the cap to the guy who deserves a meteorology degree more than many who actually have one... Brtn... you rock! Goodnight all! Thanks, Chris...maybe one day. I just realized that I've been doing what I do for 20 years now. I've had a strong fascination for weather since I was very young. But when !AccuNotWx! came out with their free beta testing for the professional site in 2000, as a 13 year old weather geek I was hooked. It was the first time I'd seen any model output or real weather data and I remember being overwhelmed by information I didnt really understand at all. Slowly but surely I figured out how to read and interpret those charts and make forecasts. And once I found Chris's Corner I had a unique outlet to share thoughts and information with like minded people. I guess the rest is history and I'm glad to share it with such a great group of people!

Basic thunderstorm here. Wind, rain, thunder, and lightning. The highest gust we had (according to the Davis on the roof in North St. Pete) was 28 mph though the trees may impede the wind a bit. the Davis would also like me to tell you that he measured .38" of rain. Lots of lightning. But positively boring compared to what the rest of the metro area got.

Thanks...we were all pretty well on top of it here as usual...the collective knowledge here in invaluable! This was kind of flying under my radar until I saw the sounding 920 posted...I had noticed models were picking up on an MCV but didn't give severe weather much thought. Definitely more of a spring time setup.

BTRN or anyone, have you spotted any long range temp charts into August? It doesn’t typically get this hot then does It? I know it can but hoping Aug is cooler or more normal!

If it was time to go back to school the heat ramped up. That was always around the middle of the month. One of my classrooms didn’t have air conditioning for years. It was awful.

Here's to hoping for some rounds of thunderstorms next week. The boundary is pretty much right on top of us so we should have decent chances most days. That would at least keep the temps in check.

Models definitely trended flatter with the ridge which puts us closer to the ring of fire...should be occasional or even daily chances for pop ups and maybe an MCS.
