Maybe an overshooting top that got disconnected and pulled in by the pressure gradient force? But then you'd expect at least some N/S propagation to it right? Shadow, maybe? I was really rooting for aircraft...lol I was trying to think about the shadow possibility...what if a plane near the equator eclipsed the satellite...then my brain started to hurt and I gave up

The more I look at that feature the more I doubt it’s an aircraft. I was trying to find the tweet that overlaid a flight on the feature but no luck. It’s been a very long day so maybe I was seeing things

Reminder for those of you with a Snapchat, the snap map is a very useful tool for getting ground truth in weather events

I posted coz's loop in the "Double Trouble" Banter thread in the tropical subforum on americanwx. We'll see if any of the big brains know what it is.

FYI, think SFMR wasn't giving good data through the last eye pass. Flight level winds were higher than last pass but surface winds less. Radar velocity in the northeast quadrant was still consistent with 150mph though.

Okay, if we have to put up with 2020, we need a Sharknado. It’s on my bucket list.

But honestly, I agree with an overshooting cloud top after I zoomed in. Why it gets sucked in is way beyond my mental capacity.

The last update at Lake Charles airport before being knocked offline was 98MPH wind with 132 MPH gust. That is the highest I've seen so far. There has been a dearth of storm/wind reports so far...which is somewhat surprising. I also haven't heard/seen much/anything about the storm surge.

Hearing that the storm surge was not nearly what was expected. I wonder why that would be.
