Remember how it was said September would be cooler than average and October warmer? Don't look now but it looks like things are going to turn out reversed with October now cooler and September likely ending near record warm. November likely to still have wild swings.

What kind of wasp is this?? Flew in our house earlier this afternoon. Likely a Potter Wasp or variant of Paper Wasp. Could be a Cicada Killer but from the angle it looks too skinny and also the front of the wasp and the wings would be a more rusty color, not yellow front and dark wings. So my bets are on one of the former options.

What kind of wasp is this?? Flew in our house earlier this afternoon. It is a species of paper wasp in the genus Polistes. I'd have to get it under a scope and key it out to give you the species, but there are several in the paper wasp genus.

Thank you all for the kind words and well wishes and prayers. We sent Daisy over the rainbow this morning to chase the squirrels, rabbits and UPS/Amazon/Fedex drivers in heaven. Damn it was hard... so very hard... but it was the right thing to do. Thank you to everyone at Veterinary Group of Chesterfield for all their help these past few years...and especially weeks.

Thoughts and prayers for you and your family Chris. It is incredibly painful, but over time it does get better and you look back on all of your time together with a smile.

Sorry to hear it, Chris... was nice to see her get to be able to spend a little more time with you all after the health scare... which was almost 2 years ago!... (feels like a lifetime ago in Corona-times) Always a painful decision. She had a great home and great family during her time here, that's for sure.

It is very tough to do. But you don't want them to suffer, either. They don't understand what's going on. But they look to you to make them feel better.

Weather wise, it will likely be a good while before we see that refreshing first fall cool front. The renewed push from the tropics will likely dominate the flow over the next couple of weeks.

Looks like a decent chance for showers and storms developing for the NW half of the area at least with a disturbance rolling NE towards the region and a differential heating zone in place.

EURO has a pretty nice longwave kink at the end of next week. 60s/40s would be the norm.

We are knee deep in typical September weather (aka boring as all get-out). At least the temps will back off a little into next week.

It looks like Sally and Teddy may make their appearance in the next couple of days. 96L is sitting off the coast of FL. It's possible that it could track into MO, but I think the odds are pretty low at this point. However, the 12Z ECMWF does seem to like the idea of 96L's rain shield getting into southern MO and even encroaching into the St. Louis region. GFS and UKMET...not so much.
