So the Euro has Alpha..maybe Wilfred, developing and moving to the TX coast then intensifying to a likely hurricane, moving over New Orleans then right along the coast to Mobile and Pensacola again. So, uh, that would be interesting.

So, uh, that would be interesting. That is bizarre. It also still shows Teddy messing around with Maine. 00z Ggem gets Teddy awfully close to Maine as well. Do we have any good winter analogs for a hurricane season this active?

EURO Brings what will likely be Wilfred or Alpha into the central gulf than up the Mississippi River days 8-9. Doubtful as its the only model showing it, but still it's something.

I went back and read parts of the thread from January, 2014. What an awesome storm that was.

I'm wondering if proximity to larger cities has an effect. I couldn't smell much smoke this morning, but many rural locales have been reporting smoky smell since last night.

I went back and read parts of the thread from January, 2014. What an awesome storm that was. I read the blog back for that whole winter season. You're right, that was a once in a 15+ year storm for us. The widespread 8+ amounts and wind/extreme cold that came in behind it was rather unprecedented. Hopefully we will see something like that again in the near future, though I and I'm sure others on here would agree we could do without such intense cold. On another note, Im very sorry to hear about your dog Chris, may you remember the great times you had while she was still here. As far as the smoke 99, I could smell it faintly over here.

Teddy is looking good at the moment. Recon mission in en-route. GOES-16 final ADT number is up to 6.6 and the raw number briefly made it up to 7.1. Consistent with a high end Cat-4. Maybe it makes a run at Cat-5 tonight?

Definitely smell smoke in Perryville from time to time. Not sure if local or from out west. It is much hazier at the surface today than it has been.
I don’t think it’s local actually. I’ve gotten strong whiffs of it for 10 miles now with the window down.

Looks like the timing of our first real fall front was today I guess? 9 days late but feels good.

Smelled smokey driving 70 from Collinsville to Cave Springs. You can really see the smoke sinking in the river valleys. It almost looked like the smoke was pouring over downtown when crossing the Stan-Span

I’ve been home all day. Someone is either burning within a few miles or the smoke smell is here too. Not constant but occasional whiffs.

NAM tossing upper 30s to around 40 Saturday and Sunday Morning in the metro east into Illinois with mid to upper 40s elsewhere. Might even be some light patchy frost in sheltered locations especially in Illinois if that comes to fruition.

The smoke is back unfortunately, not very often can I look directly into the sun without it making me go blind. 2020 will be hard to top for the craziest year ever.
