I definitely don’t see a quite warm December, most models show a decent pattern for winter weather around the 12-13th models continue to show a decent winter storm and good cold shot, not sure how long it will last. Between now and then temps near normal with average or below average precipitation

Hey WC fo you think have a possibility this year of white christmas I think we have a good shot of a winter storm between the 10th and 20th. We are in a weird situation after that where if we get the PV to split, Christmas is probably very mild, but then January is potentially awesome for cold and snow. On the other hand, if we have a reflective PV event in Mid December, our chances of a White Christmas are higher than average, but the down the road pattern may not be as good. I’m leaning towards a nice storm followed by a warmup in the days leading up to Christmas, but that’s just a gut feeling

We have not heard from Friv yet this winter.... I hope all is ok Thanks for the thoughts and well wishes. I have been reading the board I think I feel spoiled from the last few November's where we've gotten snow so early. The pattern really sucks most of the deep cold is displaced in eastern Asia. and it gets dumped into the Pacific ocean relentlessly. Leaving the upper Arctic basin to continually create more cold in such a way that it cannot build an established a deep deep cold air mass that we need to park over North America. The little cut off system that basically disintegrates right on top of us does have the potential to whiten the ground especially over the southwestern half of the viewing area. I think folks along and Sound of 44/64 have a solid shot at a period or two of snow on the front end. And who knows on the back end. After that things suck hard for a while.

The weekend of the 12th/13th looks like a possible big 4 corners (or somewhere near there) storm is a brewing. Fun tracking ahead hopefully!

Yeah just a casual 982mb low pressure in the middle of country haha
Just one run on the fantasy range of 00z GFS, but that would be blizzard conditions especially for unclesam!

Looks about right - wrapped up storm with low passing overhead and our region in the dry slot/warm sector lol. Obviously kidding, this is not even close to what the end result will be. I could actually see an overrunning type situation. Man it would be nice to have that classic winter storm out of the SW with cold air filtering in. Even if it’s ice, I don’t care. Just want a normal winter storm again. It’s been a long, long time.

Mid month looking rather interesting for winter weather, so just your normal 2 more weeks!

Was able to hit the slopes for the first time in 3 years since living out here in Colorado. Captured some photos for you all up at Vail.

gfs is bearing out what everyone or mostly everyone has been saying all along...a winter pattern in full force mid month, even a plains winterstorm. this is fantasy period but lets see how this plays out. i think we will see some fun in the 10 to 14 day period. the cold probably wont stick around....and i think the holiday will start out mild with an approaching weak cold front. still liking january into february as our main show with the best chances of snow and cold.

LA NWS going with a PDS Red Flag Warning / High Wind Watch for the next several days due to a developing Santa Ana event. Cites extremely dry vegetation, relative humidity as low as 5%, and wind gusts up to 70mph.

While we wait out the pattern for another week there is still a chance for some light snow on Sunday.
A nice, compact 500mb vorticity lobe visits the region. Just have to see if any moisture is available.
Might be something the models pick up on a day or two in advance

I agree I could see a quick coating to 1 inch along the river sunday if timing is favorable.
