Watch out in the morning, there could be some patchy freezing fog in spots mainly on bridges or over passes

A southward trend has definitely been common so far this early season with the models...they've had a tendency to overdevelop the lead wave and not pick up on the trailing, digging energy until about this range or a little after.
The trend over the next several runs will be telling.

Dang ol' ICON sure is teasing that secondary southern low Sunday night.

GFS throwing some hope in there now too with more precip in the cold sector and temps aloft cold enough for snow...still a bit warm at the surface though. Good trends so far.

GEM is a swing and a miss unfortunately. Lots of energy coming out of the south though, should be some potential here as we head into the holidays.

GEFS doesn't give much hope this far south. Really need some secondary energy behind the first wave to spin up some precipitation

I suppose when the GEM misses us we could start calling it the Tyler O'Neill, eh?

I am more interested in how the weekend system sets the table for later next week.

Euro has a lot of trailing energy after the weekend system that brings a snowstorm to Nashville and a strip of snow across the central US

Euro has a lot of trailing energy after the weekend system that brings a snowstorm to Nashville and a strip of snow across the central US Amazing how the mid-level system completely shears out overhead, only to rapidly re-develop within 6-12hrs well off to the S/SE. I'm not writing off this first system until models completely loose the secondary energy digging in. But this pattern is starting to give me a headache...the tendency for these waves to shear out seems all too familiar.

18z NAM is interesting To bad it’s the NAM at 84hrs Definitely holding back a substantial amount of energy...that's what we need. The upper flow orientation looks quite a bit different than previous runs...let's see how it trends.

my thinking is this will end up bringing snow across the upper midwest, leaving us with a brief mix before ending, but i think this will set us up for better odds of snow the following week. as chris stated, there shld be interest in how this pattern evolves in setting the table for the following week.

iF it snows it'll be next week..not this weekend. And next week is highly questionable, like usual. I certainly wouldn't get any hopes up at all. Everyone enjoy spring the next 2 days, then the rain. Yay, December.
