Precip is blossoming to the N in Southern MO. It's around 25 mi north of the AR/MO border w/ the front northern edge just past West Plains. 3-4 hrs to go, I can smell the moisture from south on the air now.

My ground temp here is 29. Guess we will see what happens. I'm surprised my weather radio didn't go off here in Troy, MO? I'm under a Winter Storm Warning. I cant remember if they send out an alert for that or not.

Dry air aloft will eat into the precipitation initially

Looking at observations and wondering if areas northwest of the metro may have some power issues later on. Temps currently in the 27-29F range from Columbia up to Hannibal. Then models showing strong wind gusts towards morning after several hours of freezing rain and temps struggling to make it above freezing.

Man the 00z HRRR blast Colombia with .75" of ice and that's using the FRAM output. I'd say power outages there are likely

what the hell is the NAM doing? At 6am has stl at 32..Colombia at 33. Little wedge of colder air right over the metro. Weird.

Well it is the NAM after all

Looks like the Farmington Ice Skating Rink web cam has IP/FRZ falling. Any ground confirm??
Edit: I don't notice raindrop indications on the sidewalk or blacktop.

Must have been a “spritz” in Farmington. Don’t see anything on camera now, though there are two mPING reports of freezing rain.

I’ve had a little bit of freezing rain/sleet here in Ironton. It’s enough to put a light coating on my deck.

Sure is an expansion/increase in stronger radar returns east of Lebanon and just coming into Fort Leonard Wood according to Nexrad radar from rap.ucar site. Doesn't have Composite or Dual-Pol though.

Celebrating at home as well. Normally we might be at my son's house, celebrating his 33rd birthday. Not tonight. His wife is due any day now with their third son. He wants to be ready at a moment's notice so no big party tonight.

I just finished salting and I can confirm puddles and wet pavement from yesterday is already freezing on lots . It’s 28 in wentzville and about 29 in chesterfield. With 24-25 degree dew points temps will drop a little once precipitation starts it’s going to get pretty icy .

I think the models are picking up on the temps and dew points . That and that north east wind are going to be our friend for once

Just looking at the over cooked short term models, I guess we are on step something of this place...comparing to 2006....I actually wasn't in St. Louis, so how much ice did the area get during that storm?

OT warning for some shameless bragging on a family member. This is our niece. We sat through numerous squeaky performances of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star when she was little, but the end result is really quite impressive. It's a couple years old, and if you aren't into the classical stuff, just slide it forward to about 2:25 or so.
