Any chance at winter precip at the end of the upcoming week? It looks like it is to get colder, and at least overnight temps, would support it. I assume not with the lack of posts, though…

No winter precip here for the foreseeable future. Maybe not ever again.

Merry Christmas cornerites! I hope you and yours have an awesome holiday! I'm waiting for Santa to arrive as I smoke a briskett and will share some smoked wings with the Saint if he'll have any.

Models don't look half bad next week towards NYD. It doesn't look like a big shot of frigid air or a big storm, but we're close enough to the cold air to keep things interesting with energy ejecting out underneath it. They may be starting to pick up on the strength of this airmass with widespread -30* to -50*F temps across W Canada currently.
Merry Christmas!

Two questions: 1. Will we actually see any showers tonight? If so how hard of rain? Will be smoking a briskett and it's not covered. 2. Are we still expecting severe weather across the area new years timeframe?

Severe weather around news years is possible, but as the SPC discussion states it’s to early to narrow down any specific area

Merry Christmas! Hope if you have to work today it is an easy day. As for me, I want all of my QC to be in range and none of the specimens to be hemolyzed or clotted.

Ensemble means are pretty consistent in showing a re-enforcing shot of arctic airmass into the Plains next week with energy in the S branch ejecting out towards NYE/NYD. Still think there's potential for some wintry weather with that setup. The good news is that despite the large-scale pattern not being ideal for us, the cold air is on our side of the pole and it's the real deal arctic airmass. It definitely looks like the mild pattern is coming to an end for a while with the onshore flow pretty well getting cut off.

Had 2 shots of holiday cheer before coming to the hotel: Rum and peppermint Schnapps. Glad I did, I needed it. I'm not a drunk, I just play one at the front desk.

Bit off topic, but I'm thinking about getting my Part 107 License for a drone. My guess is that some of you have gotten it already. If so, where can I find info on reading metar and taf reports. Also, what is the best way to study for it. I know there are a lot of YouTube videos out there, but my guess is that most are a waste of time. TIA.

I have too many drones. Lol. I actually have not found a reason yet to get my 107 but let me ask my friend over at Idaho Quadcopter where he studied to pass the test. PM if you wish. What drones do you own?

Not done anything to really need the Part 107 yet, but thought it might be nice to have. Really, you can do everything as a hobbiest, just not make money from it really.

It's a bit surreal, yet sad and ridiculous when the forecast has the words "much colder" for tonight, but the forecast low is just about where the normal HI is.
