Starting to get some congested CU out there. Hope we can get a good storm this evening...it's getting very dry again.

Boundary moving thru Troy/Winfield may kick off a few storms soon.

Anyone have any predictions on the length of the heat wave next week? Is there any long term info for it lasting past next week? I sure hope not! Happy 4th weekend, everyone!

Anyone have any predictions on the length of the heat wave next week? Is there any long term info for it lasting past next week? I sure hope not! Happy 4th weekend, everyone! Most models bring the front through Thursday, so it's another 2-3 day stretch of heat followed by cooler temps and possibly stormy as the boundary stalls near us.

Whenever possible, I really like to be as specific as possible with timing and location of storms. But this weekend, despite my best efforts, I just don't feel I can accurately narrow anything down without risking blowing up a lot of weekend plans. So I'm going the very generic route... "chance for storms at anytime...with a lot more dry time than wet" I do think the best bet is for folks to be aware the whole holiday weekend there is a chance for a storm/downpour with gusty winds, heavy rain and lightning... then just leave it at that.

I do think the shortwave tomorrow looks decent... and is likely to be our best shot at rain...but Im not at all comfortable with the timing.

I do think the shortwave tomorrow looks decent... and is likely to be our best shot at rain...but Im not at all comfortable with the timing. I do think if a complex develops tomorrow along the LLJ it has a decent shot at making it into the area. Models aren't too jazzed about it surviving the trek across MO though...

If it's anything like today I don't see how anyone can accurately predict a rain location anything more than a few minutes on advance. A few hours in advance is a pure guess.

Sure would be nice to get all that rain in Eastern Kansas in here. But if history is any predictor they'll dry up somewhere between Kansas City and Columbia.

About a quarter inch in the rain gauge this morning here. Had some really good boomers earlier this morning.
That boundary looks like it's lighting up ahead of the MCS out to our west. Could be a very wet day if storms continue to fire and that MCS can make it here, or we get redevelopment.

Not ideal for the holiday festivities but I'd love to see that stratoform rain shield move in later today. HRRR looks very active into the evening but models are torn on how things develop. That MCV looks pretty well developed out west...would think that will sustain lift across the region into tonight favoring storm development.

We're also in a favorable sector of the jetstreak to the NE which should favor storm development today. Seems like a good setup for multiple waves of storms to develop along the boundary.

We are into our 6th shower/thundershower this morning 7 miles west of De Soto. I keep hoping the lightning gets 'over us' for the nitrogen dispersal, most thunder has been off in the distance. A few fairly close (1-2 miles) but certainly a very nice on/off rain. No gauge here but radar estimates have us at 1-1.5" and 1.5-2" of green/yellow shades. Looks like alot of rain to the west too. Great for the 'overall' area considering flying, flaming, projectiles are in the forecast also. Happy 4th of July to everyone. Stay safe and enjoy the time with family and friends. Thanks again to all the Veteran's that have helped maintain our Independence for 246 years.

Heading to Park Hills. Could be a washout looking at latest radar. This was/is a great rain event here 7 miles west of De Soto. I hope it keeps the on/off nature it has shown so far. I was surprised to see a Flood Advisory for my area. It says 1-3" has fallen across the area. Stay safe. Edit: I flipped over to rainfall estimate and it says 3-4" around me. I don't think I got that at the homestead, but close anyway.
