I think we have a chance of getting more snow this winter than we've seen the past few months. Just a gut feeling. The temperature should be colder as well. I think the shorter days we have in store will help that along.

Boy my plants got zapped hard last night. I guess the already stressed plants from the drought could not even handle a frost. Im saying growing season is over at my house.
Also amazing tree color this early. I dont remember trees this early in years.
I bet peak is going to be next weekend at this rate

I had 33* this morning 7 miles west of De Soto. Pretty heavy frost everywhere. I had a pretty stout area of fog quickly rising off of my little pond. Is that strictly condensation from the difference in emperature or is there also some evaporation occurring when this happens? Also, if anyone is near the Kirkwood Community Center tomorrow there is a Train Show there. Vendors selling stuff and 7 layouts set up. Adults $7 and kids 12 and under free. Stop by and say hi at the MVNS T-Trak layout. 10am to 3pm 111 S. Geyer Rd. Kirkwood, MO

Well that was a disappointing end to the Cardinals Post Season. Over just as it started. Hope the Winter doesn't end up the same way... A big hyped up disappointment.

Already 38* at KSUS at 22:54 with calm winds. Supposed to switch to the SW. May be able to hit 31-32* quickly again before light WAA kicks in. Possible frost tomorrow again in mainly rural areas. Urban areas will struggle to go before 40* tonight. KSTL at 48* now.
34* this morning in Northern Wildwood.

Also watch Wednesday, the models are coming more and more amped up with that trough next week. Looks like she's negatively tilting as a piece of energy rocket through the region. Could be some severe even marginal tornado potential with that kind of set up.

White wooly worm on the porch in st.peters as well. Folklore shows that means blizzards and lots of snow. Not saying its true but I never have seen white wooly worms until this year

Looking to through the rest of the month, it looks periodically active with several deep troughs working through the area with brief warm ups to the 70s and 80s ahead of them, but then 2-3 days of below to well below average temps. It's like the Octobers of old... Not the usual extension of Summer with hints of September mixed in that we have been used to for awhile now.

Could be some severe even marginal tornado potential with that kind of set up. Low-level moisture is very marginal though...dewpoints are barely into the 50s on most models. Models shifting the trough more east the past couple runs, possible for a re-correction back west, but eastward passage makes set up less favorable as well as the fact it's looking more neutral to slightly positive tilt now. The look isn't as ominous as yesterday, but still a solid of some light to moderate rain, maybe a rumble or 2.

Finally looks like some good rains this week. AFD had some nice rain possibly exceeding an inch near and north of 70.

Considering the ability of drought to fuel more drought, I want to hold back some on the rain potential the next two days. That being said, it is hard to argue against at least some marginally beneficial rain in many spots. That being said, I expect a decent range in totals from 1/4 inch to as high as 1 inch in spots.

Yeah, I'm not holding my breath for much more than a 1/4"...it's been a while since I've seen it this dry. Nice to actually have some rain in the forecast though.
