I started to burn a pile of leaves with my grandson while he was jumping in it and I'm taking it away from the side and taking them into the ditch. Then we started to feel a few raindrops then a few more next thing I know I look over at the concrete driveway and it's getting damp but the fire is still going pretty good, then it started raining a little harder and put the fire out. I should have started it maybe 15-20 minutes sooner than I did and I would have had it all burned. This was still a little sketchy even with the hose next to me and I knew rain was on our doorstep cuz it's still pretty dry. Very misleading first sentence there lol

I didn't think the stuff on the radar was going to make it to the ground! Looks like tomorrow is going to be wet for sure till the afternoon. Then strong NW winds (strong cold air advection) something we haven't seen in a awhile it seems! Yeah kind of hard to discern exactly where the rain line is in the National Weather Service weather radar seems like that one's on the composite and it always shows a lot more rain around the edges than is actually hitting the ground. Yep I am looking forward to this blast of fall weather and the rain.

Looks like this is/was summer's last gasp. Pattern down the line seems to be favoring some sort of blocking pattern west/southwest of Greenland along with a decent ridge across the west coast by the time we reach Mid October, which would favor deep consistent troughing into the eastern half of the US especially the Midwest and Great Lakes. Pattern is also quite an active one too with colder and wetter conditions, Might get flakes as far south as Chicago and Quincy maybe Springfield, IL by late October.

I like when Angela is on in the morning, she showed up to a half inch of rain here and we got 1.23". Love seeing a forecast bust the right way for once!

.50" 7 miles west of De Soto. Pretty sure as light as the rain fell I only got an additional half inch in my pond. I don't think anything would have run off to add more to it.

Already down to 48° here It’s chilly 47° in High Ridge. Really didn't want to turn the heat on after having the AC on as recently as yesterday. Set the thermostat for 65° and hope it doesn't come to that. If it does, I'm sure that first time heat on in the fall smell will let me know!

Down to 44° 7 miles west of De Soto. It was 71° in the house at 5:00 p.m. and it is 70° right now. The heat is not on and will not be turned on IF I can help it.🤪🤪🤪

Hit a low of 40.1°
Lost the furnace battle as it just kicked on a while ago. I can't go lower than 65° or there's too many complaints from the family.

My thermometer registered of low of 40° this morning. I checked Sullivan their low was 39° so my station looks pretty accurate with new batteries. The house got down to 66°, no heat yet. I don't know if we had a frost or not here. I know I had quite a bit of cold air infiltration through the attic fan vent. I dont cover the vent until 'prolonged cold air' sets in. Wonder if we will see that this year?🤔🤔🤔😊

40* in Brighton...beautiful, crisp early autumn weather!
We may have to watch the storm potential later next week...that's a pretty vigorous looking shortwave moving through around Friday with a strong wind field. Models suggest dewpoints in the low 60s so there could be enough instability for severe storms.

18Z GFS already teasing us with a sweet storm not to far from being a very wet snow in the hr 288 period. Had it been November that would be a bit more believable. Not a terrible track if that ends up being the dominate track.

Ya, this is definitely worth keeping an eye on Flying out to NM for the eclipse on Friday, so of course it will storm. Also probably a cloudy view from St. Louis for the Eclipse next Saturday for the Lou.

I dropped to 38° this morning. The house just did drop to 67 degrees still no heat. The wife baked several loaves of bread yesterday and it brought the house up to 71° around noonish. Got to love the baking season.😊

Not a terrible track if that ends up being the dominate track. If this pattern stretches into the winter, it could be a decent one for the Midwest with blocking/cold drainage and an active southern branch. I always put quite a bit of stock into trends during October as we head into the cool season. Time will tell...
