One trend I'm not crazy about so far this fall is the lack of organized cyclones...these systems are having a hard time organizing with the lack of moisture supply. I'm starting to get cold and dry vibes for this winter...hopefully things will pick up once the jetstream settles further equatorward and can draw in better moisture. Ya we've had just little bouts of moisture. But your right. Nothing wrapped up. El Nino typically doesn't favor our area anyways. Mainly the southern states. But just like Dave always says. No La Nina or El Nino are the same.

Anyone on here have experience with Ambient Weather Stations and changing WIFI networks at home? We changed ISPs and got a new router in the process and now i can't figure out how to get on the new network.

I have an ambient, and got a new router. Just needed a new password. Not sure about changing networks though, would think it would be fairly obvious, but I dont know. Hmm

Models showing potential for a monster storm by D10.
Should be the classic Fall snowstorm for the Plains/Upper Midwest.
We could see flooding/severe weather followed by a shot of winter like cold.

We are going to Lake of the Ozarks State Park by the end of this month (Halloween week). Staying in one of their outpost cabins.
Couple if yrs, we went and stayed there. It rained the whole week!! I'm hoping for some nice weather. Point is I'll definitely be looking at the pattern late month for anything substantial. We don't want it to be rained out again.

Yeah it really looks like our first of winter is coming sometime after the 25th of Oct into Halloween. Whatever does happen will help us start to understand the puzzle to this coming winter's theme!

12z gfs is pretty interesting by next weekend. Big Kirksville snowstorm. Does look intriguing. "Big" snowstorm for Oct standards! Now time to watch it change and see another possible solution. It's nice to see digital snow on the models. That storm looks like it would be more favorable potentially for your neck of the woods instead of STL based on climatology being a week plus out.

Halloween 2019 is the benchmark up here. 6+ inches west of the city and even had accumulation on lake shore drive. STL has recent examples of early November accumulation, so we are at least getting close to the realm of possibility. Hopefully, Siberia picks up some rapid accumulation to wrap up October so conditions are more favorable for a weak PV.

Wild differences by next weekend between the 12z gfs and 12z ggem.
I’m hoping the gfs pattern is recurring all winter as once the cold air is a little more potent that will lead to some massive winter storms.

Pretty wintry looking large-scale pattern developing the last few days of this month with a -EPO allowing a lot of cold drainage into the US. Looks like a strong frontal passage in the Sunday-ish timeframe that could bring a strong storm threat ahead of it. I wouldn't sleep on Thursday's potential either if we can clear out some. The pattern definitely looks a lot more active as we close out the month.

Not familiar with the dealers around you but a 461 is a great saw and would run a 30" bar fine especially with skip chain. The newer 462 has the electronic carb which I'm not a fan of.

The remnants of Norma hooking up with the cold air coming in from the northwest is going to give a pretty good early thump of snow. Also saw one of the models showing a tongue of 4 to 6 inch snow cover for STL and to the north and east for Thanksgiving. <fingers crossed>

Thank you - someone is selling a 461 on Craigslist for 950 which I think is a bit rich. I’ll look elsewhere for that model.

Been a long time since I've worried about possible snow while camping. Not that I really am at this point. Waaaay to early and time of yr is against it.

Sitting out here in the woods deer hunting (wearing 1 thin layer) dreaming of the 30-50 degree days coming next week!
This big front will turn the rut up a few notches (Just a few rubs/scrapes out so far...)
Got a wedding Saturday I'm trying to get out of so I can go up north! ❄️🦌

the weekend is looking like a washout for the tail end of youth soccer season, and Halloween night is looking like a "3 layer trick 'r treating" experience. Oof, what a weird fall we've had since back to Labor Day.
