I would take a 2002-03 type of El Nino pattern again except with the WAA portion of the Dec 23rd '02 storm further north . Our goods came on xmas eve.

There is nothing like turning on the heater/furnace for the first time of the season. It wasn’t that cold but cold enough to test it.

Going for a short 2 day camping trip locally at Cuivre River State park Monday-Wed. Hoping rain isn't too bad early Wed morning. Models are coming to better agreement that most of the heavier rain will be in Northern MO and into Iowa.

I stepped out this morning to let the dog out and was greeted With a clear Sky Full of Stars, which really surprised me.......... And while gazing at the spectacle a flash of lightning startled me. This looks to be another really close call with some badly needed rain that just might skim to my north. 😪

Hmm wonder what I can spend all these rocks' on that I've acquired with missed rainfall events this year............... Maybe a rock concert.🤪🤪😁 😳😳😳 hope the winter produces more, as far as snowfall goes, not rainfall.

There are hints of a PV stretch event that would usher in a week or two of cold late October/early November.
I could see a Hurricane Sandy type situation on the coast as there are also signs of tropical activity.
Snowicane round 2.

It doesn't appear that the 'warm October' prediction is panning out so far. Will there be a flip before the end of the month that will change that?

Is there any possibility of more rain developing towards this evening and tonight? I got another rock. Not even enough to make the pavement fully wet. WTH

WTH Yes this late afternoon/evening...pulses of rain cells along the katafront (before the cold air advection) comes knocking on our doorstep! Yes I'm that weirdo who gets excited about the first true fall mid latitude cyclone cold air advection event! 😊

That magical 540 dm thickness line is getting closer and closer to the STL area each day that goes by with each model run! Almost time to forecast digital snow! ❄️😂😊

The Mississippi River dropped to -6.53 ft at New Madrid this morning. This breaks the previous record of -5.93 ft set all the way back in September of 2023.

One trend I'm not crazy about so far this fall is the lack of organized cyclones...these systems are having a hard time organizing with the lack of moisture supply. I'm starting to get cold and dry vibes for this winter...hopefully things will pick up once the jetstream settles further equatorward and can draw in better moisture.
