I gave up on spectrum last year for att fiber. Reliability has been much better and I never have to reset the equipment. Same here. Fought with Spectrum for a year with tons of outages that was effecting my work. Had them come out 8 times and finally caught an honest tech who said our area has old copper and management isn’t going to do anything about it. It was also causing problems for schools, Maplewood city hall/police/fire and businesses. As soon as ATT Fiber came in I got it. I’ve only had two outages and both were overnight for less than 2 minutes. Out from 4:00am to 2:30pm today. Second 10+ hour outage in a week. I've lost count of how many in the last year. AT&T Fiber isn't an option where I live and their copper will only do 50Mbps. I had that before and it used to be good enough before streaming. I also didn't have an AT&T outage in 10 years unless the power was also out. However, I am happy to report that Spectrum's bill arrived right on time today and went up another $5/month.

Getting back into forecast form today after a few days off.
Stepping right into a very challenging forecast with us sitting on the edge of the heat dome. Close enough to the heat core to reach close to 100, yet also close enough to the rim of the dome to get us into the MCS train in the pseudo "ring-of-fire." Considering the rather moist ground conditions we have at this time I suspect we may end up feeling more of the influence from the ridge running disturbances leading to more of a thunderstorm threat than has been portrayed in the forecast. I like the SPC outlook for tomorrow...although it remains somewhat conditional. The other concern in this pattern quickly becomes excessive rainfall. There is the potential for multiple MCS's to track down the Mississippi River over the next several days. In addition to the strong wind potential these bring, there is also the concern for highly efficient rain processes. I had a quick 1.2 this morning at the house and that filled the pond up to the rim once again behind our house and brought creeks up quickly. So lots to watch in a forecast that presently focuses mainly on heat. This could become a real pain in the neck kind of week.

One big difference seems to be in the mid-level temperatures between the CAMS and globals. The capping is much stronger on the GFS, for instance, than the CAMS. 700mb temps warming up to around 14c over a large part of IA, MO and even western IL. Whereas the CAMS are hovering around 10-12c. I think I want to hit storm chances a little harder in my forecast for tomorrow and possible tomorrow night early Wednesday...especially for our Illinois counties.

3km NAM has several rounds of storms impacting the Metro region over the next couple days. The location of the mid-level thermal ridge definitely favors the IL counties overall.

AT&T is in the process of getting rid of all the DSL and other slow speed internet as well as other copper based services. They are too expensive to maintain. At some point even POTS lines are going to go away.

We got lucky. When we had our house built they were putting in fiber in the neighborhood. A few blocks away where my mom lives they don't have any fiber. I do remote service for lab instruments, and the only issues I've had with my internet is when the VPN supplied by my company acts up. I have coworkers all over the US that have internet issues.

Stay safe our illinois folks. Also tonight's storms seem further west than I was expecting.
Making me think we could very well be under the gun for a wind storm tomorrow like some of you all are hinting at and based on todays trends.
It has been one heck of a summer with all these storms.
Also I think I got my rain gauge correct now. I had .71 this morning.
Stay safe guys and cool the next few days.

Torrential rain and very strong winds just blasted through here about a half hour ago. I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a weak tornado somewhere.
