MCV developing north of Salina near the NE border...that should help to sustain storms through the night as they cross into the Bi-state. 700mb temps are very toasty though...12-14*C across most of MO

Probably a dump question, but as we have seen recently storms seem to organize better at night, and struggle at peak heating....
Does our upper level temps drop diurnally at night just like the surface, or are they unrelated.
Meaning with cooler mid-level at night the storms can sustain better than at peak heating?

Slight risk severe now includes the metro and much of the northern 2/3 of Missouri and southern Illinois

Overnight, storms frequently get a boost from the 850mb winds (low level jet).

My coworker and I are talking about the Front Range fires that are popping off, 2 new ones just today. Crazy seeing how close they are to Denver and Boulder.

Family in Lincoln only had a few minor limbs down and lost a blade to their outdoor ceiling fan. They got lucky.

17.74 will be the rain total for the month of July in my yard.
New watch for Western MO. How will we kick off August?

Those storms out west look nasty and they're headed right down 70...will be interesting to see how they hold together across MO.

Storms are weakening slowly out west. However, they are much stronger and more widespread than any CAM would suggest. And given the tradition from the CAMs of vaporizing storms much too quickly... I think there is a good shot at least our MO counties get storms late tonight. Some 40+ mph winds will be possible.

August 1 marks the anniversary of the crest downtown of the flood of 1993. The wife and I went down to the Arch grounds that Sunday morning. It was incredible to see that much water flowing quietly by. There was an eerie silence since there was no river traffic.

Definately very impressive winds.
Power even surged in St.Peters with the storm.
Good call with it heading our way Chris.
Now for today, I doubt we see much as the air feels scrubbed out and stable.
Also I have my doubts we reach heat advisory criteria.

Missed the rain by [ ] that much 7 miles west of De Soto. The outflow sure has seemed to have cooled it down here this morning more than I thought it would. If we can just keep this cloud cover.🤔🤔🤔

Another 1.5" of rain fell in a very short time over here in the far east. It sure seemed like late June/early July most of the heavy rain events were west of the river. It has made up for it in spades over here over the last 2 weeks.

I did see one flash of lightning. Wow, I thought for sure I was going to be able to get on here and say.... " looks like I ended up being one of the "haves" and this just might be a preview of what the winter could be like." But my hope has just flat-out disappeared.😭😭😭🤪🤪🤪

The damn is either going to be overtopped or washed out sending a wall of water down the river valley. Dangerous situation.

Weather looks pretty uneventful overall for the next 7-10 days with the Gulf moisture pretty well shut off with the meandering TS off FL and the ridge anchored over the SW. Temps look warm overall, but nothing remarkable for this time of year.

According to the NWS St. Louis. “We are moving past the climatological temperature “hump”! This means that daily average temperatures are starting to cool each day as we inevitably head into fall.”
