Tell it to get down here! Compressional heating right now, I’m showing 101. That’s on my truck thermometer and home thermometer. I saw that as well in my truck when I drove over to vote around 2:30. So glad I took today off. My house thermometer peaked at around 101 also. Definitely a hot one. Down to 92.5 currently. Patiently waiting. Hoping to open some windows tonight.

Wow... this is as fall-like an air mass as you can get in August... it looks and feels like October... complete with drizzle!

This is the most fall like cold front I can remember this early in the season My thoughts exactly, this feels like a first week of September front. The mist and clouds is a nice addition after being in the oven. Looking ahead, the models, in particular the GFS are insisting on a stout period of MCS type storms middle to end of next week.

I got up this morning and opened all windows and turned off the AC. Glorious. I want to weather to stay like this for about 2-3 months.
Plus, anyone savvy with how accurate hurricanes showing up on long range models are? My sister is going on her honeymoon to the Bahamas next week, I'm flying out to North Carolina in a week and a half. Right now the ECMWF is the only one showing anything frisky around the 17th. I called it months ago that with both of us in that lower east coast area, plus the absolute rotten luck my sister has with events planned outside, there will be a major system in that area.

Conditions appear favorable for antropical system to develop. Bahamas region and Floria and se coast could be at least close. Definitely something I would keep an eye on if headed there.

I actually thought this summer overall has been pretty sunny...but this stretch is pure early fall with the grey skies.

It seems Sullivan (KUUV) is mostly consistent with my temperature here 7 miles west of DeSoto. I didn't check my temperature early enough this morning. The sun had been hitting it for a bit and it said 57*. Sullivan recorded 54° for 2 hours this morning. Now Sullivan reached 73° at 11:30 this morning and they're still sitting at 73° at 3:15. That seems a little suspect to me.🤔🤔🤔 But no matter if that's accurate or not, it is an absolutely gorgeous day.

Spread about 6 yards of mulch yesterday, after spending Friday prepping about 200' of bed edging. Overestimated what we needed, so I guess I'll lay it on thick in a couple areas, then give the rest away. It got warm in the afternoon baking in the sun, and my neck will tell you that the UV index was high enough, even with sunscreen. Also decided this (like painting) might have been my last hoorah. I'm not too proud to hire somebody to do it next time.

Photo bombed by Edawg, and we also ripped out three boxwoods in the front that are slowly dying from some sort of fungus (I think) that's been killing off chunks at a time. Goes from healthy-looking to withered and dead in about 3 days.

My age is 45, body feels like it is 80. When we bought our house Fulford put in mulch and landscaping in the front. We decided to take out the mulch, put down better landscaping fabric, put in a border and lake pebbles, and the put in a wide area of border, lake pebbles, and flagstones under and around our elevated deck. We hired someone. What would've taken us several days and copious amounts of advil took 3 guys a day and a half.

All the new landscaping looks great! Awesome weekend to do it too. Now we need to deliver some rain... which looks likely over the next several days. Good rain to get the grass over the hump to fall I hope.

Ran across this this morning. First time I've ever seen this source so no idea whether it's fertilizer or whether it has some merit. Puts us in a3 "big snows possible" zone. Though, to some extent, that's always true.

Good rain to get the grass over the hump to fall I hope. The heavy dew in the mornings has kept the grass nice and thick and growing but the ground sure is hard and dry. The plants could definitely could use a drink.
