Interesting pattern setting up this coming week with a disturbance lifting out of the Baja region and coming into partial phase with a disturbance in the NW Gulf. Some model runs show a substantial amount of moisture working into our region mid-week and into the weekend as a strong front arrives...that could be a setup that produces significant rainfall.

I dumped another .5 inches from the gauge yesterday evening for a total of .8 from the event IMBY. Enough to perk up the grass a little, not enough for the pond.
Happy September everyone! I hope the 100° temps are behind us until next Summer.

3” here between the storms Thursday night and Friday. My son, mother and I witnessed a close lightening strike Friday night on our drive home. It was incredible.

I nominate today a top 10 day. Aye
Went with the boneless pork butt on the 1980s era 22" Weber kettle at 9am. Hopefully ready between 5p-6p. Experimenting with temp probes on the grates and vent positions. I've pretty much determined that it's all about the amount of charcoal. All vents barely cracked and holding between 290*-300*. That's fine, since I don't want to spend 12-14 hours on it. Prefer 275*-ish. Usually gets me done around an hour per pound.

Top 10 day would mean high Temps of around 70 or 72. So too warm later on for that. Though great right now. No BBQ or smoking today. I am however drinking a 10 am beer. Scratch that..my 2nd 10 am beer. Models are quite dry here the next couple weeks.

Wow, models backed way off on any rain chances later this week...besides for a few showers with the FROPA on Friday it's looking meager at best the next 10+ days.

We’re now into early September and the North Atlantic is showing little signs of tropical life
I think it’s safe to say the “hyperactive” hurricane seasonal forecast are going to bust hard
It might be tough to even get an average season at this rate

It's going to get very dry. Some folks who lucked into the storms last week will be ok for a while. At my place in Perryville we were in a little west-east oriented dry belt and never got more than a heavy sprinkle out of all that around us last week.

A lot of stressed trees dropping leaves down this way already. Hopefully you catch a little rain on Friday.

Was skimming through old threads on here and laughed at 2022. Late September we hit near 100deg, and a little over 5 weeks later we were sitting in snow 5+" deep. There is always hope!

Egh, I don't like the GFS in the extended. Looks like another gasp of heat. And no precip to be found.

Egh, I don't like the GFS in the extended. Looks like another gasp of heat. And no precip to be found. Im going on a month since ive had any meaningful precep. Unless something changes, fall colors this year are going to be pretty bad with a lot of trees stressed from flash drought.

Meh. Colors were fine last year with the drought. They'll be fine this year. As far as I can tell there is little year to year variation no matter how dry or wet. Some might turn brown and fall off quickly but the majority won't. No one remembers what the previous years really looked like anyway as they all are pretty much the same lol.
