Did I sleep through a good storm this morning? A neighbor had a good sized and healthy looking Maple tree split in half. I haven't heard any reports of wind gusts...may be more related to crown weight from moisture after a prolonged dry period. This drought has stressed trees and shrubs badly. Or a lightning strike.

There were enough power outages in the St Louis County area earlier this morning that there had to be some wind or lightning.

2.5 Hour lightening delay with that storm Friday night that just hovered over Chester.
Not much rain with all of this yet. Just want the humidity to scoot along now.

Something Gnarly Hit Manchester @ 141 My store lost 4 out of 5 tents 🎃😢🎃 Got to sell a bunch of crab legs to pay for all these tents... this is the 2nd time this week we've have to replace them 😡 Friday a freak wind gust flipped over 3 of these tens and destroyed a bunch of stuff... So BMW recently installed a huge fence between our buildings so you think it's creating a wind tunnel and intensifying the wind that comes through??? 🌬️

Wow, hurricane models are serious this afternoon.
HMON with a CAT 3 at least partially hitting Tampa.
HRWF goes sub 930mb at CAT 4 and is basically a hurricane Michael repeat.

It is an interesting setup in terms of rain for us. GEFS, GEPS, and EPS all show a cutoff low stimulating rain chances early in the weak followed by the capture of the remnants of future Helene. The NWS is going with 80% Monday night and 50% Friday into Saturday.

Only got a half inch in my gauge this morning. Hope we are in line for some more soon.
Also watching the hurricane forecast for the panhandle closely. I have a trip planned with family in mid October to Pensacola Beach.

Pretty much all the hurricane models are going at least CAT 4 now.
This is looking more and more like a Hurricane Michael repeat.

I am supposed to be headed to Ft Myers on Thursday to visit my parents. What is the likelihood of impacts to flights and conditions in Ft Myers on Thursday and Friday? Any thoughts?

Here is the first cone for potential tropical cyclone 9. Looks like the NHC is favoring the big bend area of Florida for landfall and then a curve back NW as it gets captured by the ULL

Had a doctor's appointment in Florissant at 8 this morning. Tough driving in the downpour. But, with the exception of one or two drivers, everyone was behaving themselves behind the wheel. No one was going speed limit or faster. At points people were even driving 40 mph; and I mean ALL the traffic around me. I was pleasantly surprised.

Just look at where the giant eroded part of Florida is and say the trend is your friend.
