30* in Northern Wildwood this morning. 28* at KSUS (Spirit)! Many areas in the immediate NW metro near/around or below freezing. Officially the first light freeze of the season. A frost at Lambert!

A low of 31.8* this morning. It got a bit colder over here in the far east than I thought it would.

Bottomed out at 31. 2 nights at or below freezing imby. Growing season 2024 over. Slightly ahead of the fall freeze average, as the last several years seems to be closer to Halloween, or early November for nights this cool. My roses took the biggest hit.

I meant to post this last night but got sidetracked. I had noticed Jefferson County was still under freeze warning for last night.🤔🤔 so anyway one of the things that I noticed is we didn't unhook a couple of the hoses that were strung together so I did that last night. But it shows my low was only 34° this morning 7 miles west of DeSoto. Would we possibly be issued another freeze warning for temps that dip down to 28-29° or would the 31° on Wednesday morning stop another freeze warning from being issued?

No. Freeze warnings are done for the season. Now when that warmup comes next week, it'll officially be 'Indian Summer'. Because we've had a frost/freeze already. People seem to forget that you need that frost/freeze first before the warm up otherwise it's just a regular old warm spell.

I think the only area that did not have a freeze was st.louis within the 270 loop.
All of saint charles county west st.louis county and metro east I believe got colder than 32, I am assuming growing season is relative cause really there is little farming or agriculture in st.louis proper. It really only matters for us folks who like vegetable and ornamental, but in reality we don't have many large field in the loop. Im thinking that takes into account ending the growing season because it's really in the places that matter for agricultural purposes and all of our agriculture land did get to 32 or lower 1 or 2 nights.

LSX said in their discussion that they had issued the last headlines for frost/freeze.

We've had a heavy frost the last three mornings. Was a little shocked to see it this morning, but I'll welcome it. One more mow/mulching of leaves this year, then I can park the mower and get the chainsaw out.

Basically no precip chances through the extended on the models. Going to get very crispy. Hopefully we can get some rain before winter or it’s going to be a dry one.

The large-scale pattern looks more active around/after Halloween with a lot of jet energy digging into the W US and Gulf moisture becoming available but until then it looks like maybe a trace or a few hundredths Tuesday AM and maybe another chance of light showers Sun/Mon so nothing substantial in the rain department for sure. The drought is building back in again...

So we don’t have to worry about a 2nd server storm season the way things are shaping up?

I would love to share a couple of pictures of Yellowstone. I do it so rarely that I can't recall how to do it. It looks like Imgur has changed. Any assistance would be appreciated.

A little warm and obviously dry, but it's been a pretty nice stretch of weather otherwise. I can put up with 80 if it gets down into or close to the 40s at night.
I won't even mention beating Alabama and Georgia handing it to Texas on their home turf (not that I particularly care for Georgia) as bonuses over the weekend.

Sometimes I wonder if they even look at anything beyond the current/forecast ENSO state... From what I can discern, October Snowfall Extent across Siberia is above the 20 year average and the forecast looks conducive to finishing the month strong. This would bode well for a weaker Polar Vortex. We need every advantage we can get.

In other news, my wife said she saw a wooly bear caterpillar out in Chesterfield that was black except for the tail which was brown.
Anyone able to confirm?

Does it matter that it’s 2024? And I was simply asking a question. For fun.
